About The Position

This leader plans, develops and directs the activities the financial management for SMH Physician Services, Inc. (PSI) d/b/a First Physicians Group of Sarasota (FPG). In this role, the leader sets the tone and models positive leadership behavior, while ensuring department and division projects and responsibilities are completed successfully in support of organizational goals. This leader has focus on periodic reporting related to monthly accounting close processes, as well as quarterly internal, external reporting and, annual as it pertains to working on the Audited Financial Statements where needed. This position also is tasked with ensuring that reporting is as efficient and uniform as possible, across the health care system. Leads departmental staff to refine operational processes, maximize system functionality and utilization, and achieve efficiencies of process.

Requirements

  • Require a bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting. A master's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration is preferred.
  • Require five (5) years of accounting experience for a national or large regional CPA firm or in a medical group health care practice, with at least one (1) year in a supervisory role.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credentials; or will accept two (2) additional years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a medical group practice setting, in lieu of the CPA or master's degree.
  • Prefer strong written and oral communication skills both within the department, as well as, throughout the organization.
  • Prefer demonstrated ability to take initiative, work with little supervision, and solve problems independently.
  • Prefer demonstrated management skills including motivating and mentoring staff at all levels, training both staff and organizational managers, establishing departmental policies and procedures, and managing human resource staff issues.
  • Prefer demonstrated proficiency in the advanced use of commonly used software applications.
  • Prefer demonstrated proficiency in the use of analytical and time management skills with the ability to prioritize a variety of simultaneous duties and tasks.
