About The Position

This position is the first in a series of four finance management roles within a multi-site, multi-specialty academic medical center. The role focuses on ensuring the integrity of financial data, implementing internal controls, and providing leadership in a team environment. It involves strategic direction, communication with various audiences, and the use of reporting tools to interpret financial information. The position is remote, allowing individuals to work from anywhere in the US, with occasional travel required based on business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with eight years of applicable accounting or finance experience.
  • Five years of management or leadership experience.
  • Master's degree in a business-related field or CPA (active or inactive) preferred.
  • CMA certification and Microsoft Power BI experience preferred.
  • Expert understanding of accounting and finance principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of institutional, clinical, financial, and administrative systems and processes.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to manage and prioritize resources.
  • Customer-service orientation with the ability to anticipate and address customer needs.
  • Working knowledge of large accounting and/or grant management systems.
  • Ability to establish a productive team-based work environment and collaborate effectively across multiple sites.
  • Demonstrable communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to lead or direct multiple complex projects in an ambiguous environment.
  • Possess initiative, analytical skills, and a high level of productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Assure the integrity of financial and statistical data, including review of general ledger entries and reconciliations.
  • Identify, establish, and implement internal controls to ensure compliance.
  • Provide leadership in a team environment supporting complex multidisciplinary activities or projects.
  • Participate in establishing the strategic direction of work teams or service lines.
  • Communicate and present information to various audiences effectively.
  • Use reporting tools to interpret management financial information with significant institutional impact.
  • Synthesize inputs from subject matter experts to formulate solutions and implement change in finance, accounting, or compliance areas.
  • Coordinate the development of programs and tools for financial reporting for complex activities.
  • Interpret and implement accounting rules, fiscal compliance, policies, and regulations.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for increasing financial margins while minimizing risks.
  • Direct staff in preparation and review of variable-sensitive business models and compliance tools.
  • Coordinate analytical, financial, accounting, and compliance support to leadership.
  • Manage recruitment, development, and performance management within areas of responsibility.
  • Lead and facilitate institutional workgroups or complex projects.
  • Manage and prioritize resources across multi-site teams to maximize efficiency.
  • Handle ambiguous situations productively and lead others through them.
