About The Position

Join Geisinger Medical Center as a Manager of Facilities Operations, leading daily activities for our Grounds, Automotive Fleet, and Plant Operations teams. In this role, you’ll ensure our campus runs safely, efficiently, and in full regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily operations and staff across Grounds, Automotive, and Plant Operations. Manage budgets, utility purchasing, and annual performance evaluations. Maintain DEP operating permits and required reporting for infectious waste treatment, fuel storage tanks, and air emissions. Ensure full compliance with DOT regulations for the vehicle fleet. Support a safe, reliable environment that keeps our medical center running smoothly. Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Supervises assigned employees.
  • Participates in interview and selection process.
  • Orients and trains personnel to assure continued competence of assigned personnel.
  • Determines work flows, assigns staff and monitors workflow.
  • Acts as a resource to answer questions and resolve problems.
  • Schedules employees and assists supervisors in preparing schedules.
  • Verifies payroll records and monitors accuracy of time entered; adjusts and corrects time to reflect accurate reporting.
  • Monitors employee performance and provides feedback to the employee.
  • Addresses performance concerns, initiating the discipline process or provide coaching as needed.
  • Evaluates operations of the Geisinger fleet and recommends changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Evaluates transportation needs and determines the types of vehicles required to meet the requestors needs.
  • Balances utilization, acquisition and replacement.
  • Coordinates the acquisition of vehicles for Geisinger.
  • Ensures every vehicle lease follows the guidelines of an operating lease by obtaining a lease analysis rate sheet from the vendor for the Treasury department to review.
  • Coordinates all invoices from the vehicle leasing company to the Treasury departments to ensure monthly payment and tracking of the lease.
  • Coordinate disposal of all Geisinger vehicles at end of lease or use.
  • Manages Automotive Services operations.
  • Assures necessary maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment.
  • Assures availability of appropriate parts and equipment to assist with troubleshooting and diagnosis of vehicle problems.
  • Assures appropriate records of repair requests and activities are maintained.
  • Assures quality unleaded gasoline and availability at all times.
  • Performs monthly review of electronic billing from GasBoy fuel dispensing system to ensure that all Geisinger entities are properly charged.
  • Assures maintenance and completion of supporting documentation: Completes daily, weekly and monthly reports.
  • Utilizes information for budget and planning purposes.
  • Assures maintenance of appropriate licenses for personnel; maintains copies of licenses as required.
  • Assures awareness of compliance with various federal, state and local regulations for personnel, operations, equipment and vehicles.
  • Assures all vehicles have current state inspection, registration and other government requirements if required.
  • Maintains communication between users of services and vehicles to promote effective and efficient operations in support of transportation and vehicle maintenance needs of the Geisinger system.
  • Manages Grounds department operations.
  • Inspects grounds, roadways and walkways to determine maintenance needs and priorities to assure safety.
  • Gives direction towards parking lot projects and schedule repairs at sites throughout Geisinger.
  • Gives direction for snow and ice removal efforts to assure safe roadway, parking lot and sidewalk conditions.
  • Operates equipment during major winter storms as needed.
  • Maintains basic operation of the 6 boilers, Understands how they support each other through pressure adjustments for trouble shooting during boiler failure.
  • Submit semi-annual and annual reports for air emissions.
  • Collects data on new equipment and submits to DEP to obtain approval for installation.
  • Ensures completion of monthly tank inspection log sheets and file for annual DEP inspection.
  • Ensures all tanks are maintained and upgraded as needed to meet DEP regulation changes.
  • Manages the daily operation of treatment and disposal of infectious waste.
  • Ensures equipment is operating in compliance with DEP guidelines at all times.
  • Ensures collection and transportation of infectious waste from off site locations is performed according to DEP guidelines.
  • Provides input for the budget and planning process.
  • Prepares reports, proposals, requests for additional equipment and manpower based on maintenance reports and statistics.
  • Monitor operating budget and explain variances.
