About The Position

This position is responsible for owning the planning, coordination, and execution of state fair activities and related events across Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois, and other states as needed. This role leads a broad range of operational and logistical responsibilities before, during, and after events, ensuring successful execution in both planning and onsite environments. This role partners closely with internal teams, contractors, vendors, and Farmer Relations staff and is expected to be onsite at multiple state fairs and events throughout the season. Travel is a significant component of this role, particularly between April and September. In addition, this position supports Midwest Dairy quasi-board governance including compliance reporting, board logistics, and relationship management.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in event operations, coordination, or a related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, event management, hospitality, agriculture, or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities at once
  • Experience working with vendors, contractors, and cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly and stay organized in fast-paced, onsite environments

Responsibilities

  • Own and lead planning and execution of state fairs and related events from start to finish
  • Develop timelines, project plans, and materials to ensure operational readiness
  • Be onsite at events to oversee execution, troubleshoot issues, and ensure a smooth experience
  • Lead post-event reporting and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Coordinate vendors, contractors, and partners to support event success
  • Manage foodservice operations, including food truck planning, logistics, and execution
  • Oversee permits, licenses, and compliance requirements
  • Support equipment updates and operational improvements
  • Coordinate staffing for events, including scheduling and onboarding
  • Lead training and ensure teams are prepared for onsite execution
  • Partner with internal teams and contractors to align staffing plans
  • Own assigned event budgets, including planning, tracking, and alignment with goals
  • Monitor expenses, review invoices, and support financial reconciliation
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure operational and financial alignment
  • Support logistics, materials, and coordination for assigned quasi-board activities
  • Assist with meeting preparation, reporting, and follow-up
