About The Position

Caterpillar’s Electrification + Energy Solutions (E+ES) division focuses on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries. The EV & Machine Charging Systems Manager leads the team responsible for planning, deploying, and managing charging infrastructure across E+ES electric vehicles, heavy machinery, and equipment fleets. This role ensures reliable charging operations, oversees technical and operational staff and drives strategic decisions that support the company’s electrification goals. The manager serves as both a technical and people leader, fostering a high-performing, collaborative culture aligned with safety, innovation, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher with professional experience in engineering, business administration, operations, supply chain, program management
  • Background in energy, infrastructure, EV charging, facilities, construction, or technology-enabled services (technical, operational, or commercial functions)
  • Advises others on the assessment and provision of all technical solutions and assumes accountability for personal technical performance and holds others responsible for theirs.
  • Develops, refines, and communicates tactical plans for own responsibilities.
  • Provides the right level of detail as input for strategic plan development.
  • Demonstrates the value and necessity of linking tactical plans to overall strategic plan.
  • Ensures attention to the detail and dependencies of existing departmental-level plans.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team across site assessment, engineering support, charging systems architecture, sourcing, cost analysis
  • Oversee site assessments, capacity modeling, charger selection, and layout design
  • Ensure seamless data integration with fleet and utility/grid interfaces
  • Lead project teams through specification of Level 2, DC fast chargers, and/or high-capacity industrial chargers and manage infrastructure deployment activities: permitting, utility coordination, schedules, and vendor performance.
  • Lead the team in applying smart-charging strategies, load management, and energy analysis
  • Review energy usage, demand peaks, and charging patterns to identify efficiency opportunities
  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders including senior leadership, as well as with customers, charging hardware OEMs, software providers, electricians, and utilities
  • Oversee vendor performance, service agreements, and technology evaluations
  • Champion a proactive safety culture focused on risk incident prevention, and continuous improvement and conduct or oversee safety reviews, hazard assessments, site readiness checks, and may include contractor/user safety protocols as applicable
  • Lead high standards of safety, risk identification, mitigation, and documentation cross all project phases and ensure all systems and site infrastructure comply with relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., NEC, UL, IEEE, OSHA)
  • Encourage team awareness of emerging charging technologies, energy systems, and managed charging tools and drive pilot programs or new technology evaluations that support fleet electrification
  • Support development of cost estimates, proposals, and ROI analyses for integrated energy and digital systems
