About The Position

The Manager of ER and Trauma will in addition be responsible for the Stroke, and Chest Pain program certifications at Palo Pinto General Hospital. They will play a critical leadership role in overseeing the delivery of high-quality emergency care services for patients experiencing trauma, stroke, and chest-related emergencies. This position is responsible for ensuring that clinical protocols and best practices are rigorously followed to optimize patient outcomes and safety. Will Implement short/long term goals for the Trauma and Emergency Preparedness program. The manager will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, and support staff, to maintain efficient and effective emergency department operations. They will also lead quality improvement initiatives, staff training, and compliance with regulatory standards specific to emergency and critical care. Ultimately, this role ensures that the hospital provides timely, compassionate, and expert care to patients in urgent and life-threatening conditions, supporting the hospital’s mission and community health goals.

Requirements

  • Current unencumbered Texas RN license
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in emergency or trauma care.
  • At least 3 years of leadership or management experience in a healthcare setting
  • Successfully completed and is current in the Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) or Advanced Trauma Course for Nurses (ATON) or DSHS-approved equivalent
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC), required.
  • Must obtain Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC), Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) Instructor, Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), Trauma Outcomes & Performance Improvement course (TOPIC), American Trauma Society or System (FEMA), (NIMS) courses within 18 months of hire.
  • Strong knowledge of emergency care protocols, trauma systems, and healthcare regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field highly preferred
  • Experience with hospital accreditation processes; The Joint Commission.
  • Proven track record in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and data analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the ER and trauma department staff, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective patient care delivery in emergency and trauma situations.
  • Coordinate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient flow and resource utilization.
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and hospital protocols related to emergency and trauma care.
  • Oversee quality improvement initiatives, data collection, and reporting to enhance patient safety and clinical outcomes.
  • Manage departmental budgets, equipment procurement, and maintenance to support operational needs.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration with other hospital departments, emergency services, and community partners.
  • Lead emergency preparedness planning and response activities, including drills and staff education.
  • Maintains the required inventory of supplies and equipment in the Emergency Department
  • Address patient and family concerns promptly and professionally to ensure a positive care experience.
