About The Position

Join Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center as a Manager, Information Services, leading the Epic Willow and Epic Beacon teams that support critical pharmacy and oncology systems within our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) environment. In this role, you will partner closely with clinical, revenue cycle, and operational leaders to develop, implement, and maintain software solutions that support patient care delivery, registration, scheduling, and billing functions across the Medical Center. You will lead experienced professionals, provide technical guidance, and help ensure Epic systems supporting medication management and oncology workflows operate effectively and efficiently. This role provides the opportunity to drive impactful initiatives, collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, and advance technology solutions that support optimal care delivery and healthcare operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of work experience in a related job discipline

Nice To Haves

  • Epic certification in Epic Willow and/or Epic Beacon, or experience supporting Epic pharmacy and oncology modules.
  • Experience leading or supporting pharmacy informatics, oncology informatics, or medication management systems in a healthcare environment.
  • Experience managing or mentoring Epic analysts or application support teams.
  • Knowledge of medication management workflows, pharmacy operations, and oncology treatment protocols within an electronic medical record environment.
  • Experience supporting Epic upgrade cycles, integrated testing, change management, and system optimization initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Epic tools and workflows including medication ordering, chemotherapy treatment plans, infusion workflows, and clinical decision support.
  • Experience collaborating with pharmacy, oncology, nursing, and clinical leadership to support operational and patient care initiatives.
  • Experience supporting system implementations, module upgrades, or large-scale Epic projects.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory and compliance requirements related to medication management and oncology care.
  • Experience with workflow analysis, system optimization, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Experience working in a large academic medical center or complex healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • People Planning Provides work direction to staff aligned with the tactical and strategic objectives of the department. Elevates team members thinking and understanding of the field by infusing best practice knowledge into the work. Manages the selection, development, and coaching of team members. Ensure that job requirements and goals for each position are clear to employees and that Medical Center initiatives, priorities, standards, and policies are effectively communicated and understood.
  • Team Leadership Provide leadership to team members in completion of technology initiatives, projects or programs. Collaborate with appropriate teams or individuals to plan, implement, and/or evaluate services.
  • Systems Management Design, develop, implement and maintain systems and technology aligned to organizational needs. Recommend technology and solutions which meet workforce and patient care needs, are cost effective and consistent with best practices. Recommends the development and maintenance of policies and practices in support of processes. Develop, maintain and deliver effective communications and training to users.
  • Financial Management Assist with fiscal responsibilities of the department as requested. Monitor budget expenditures; identify and research variances/problems. Assist in tracking and monitoring expense and allocations. Provide applicable reports. Research information for major purchases. May assist with annual budget preparation.
  • Resource Management Provide leadership for completion of defined projects ensuring consistency with determined strategy, commitments and goals. May manage the project budget. Develop project plans resource allocation, and timeline. Manage the day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope. May direct assigned project team ensuring effective utilization of resources. Stay current on upcoming development within supported applications/technologies and strategize on a roadmap to maintain currency. Provide input on departmental strategy and planning with focus on areas of functional responsibility. Represent team in departmental discussions regarding selection/implementation of selected upgrades, enhancements or other solution products. Spends at least 50% of time managing the work of 2+ others. Role available in centralized functions only.
