Summary Responsible for managing the daily operations and supervision of staff for the Environmental Services Department for a healthcare facility. Establishes cooperative working relationships with staff, maintains confidentiality of information regarding clients, families, and healthcare personnel of the internal organization. Job Description Demonstrate logical, decisive and exhibit qualities of leadership. Serves as a mentor and trainer to new employees. Ability to apply principals of personnel administration and supervision of employees. Depending upon location may also include but not limited to; interviewing, hiring, evaluations, employee relations, terminations, staff schedules, and timecard approval when needed. Developing policies, processes and quality control systems for training of housekeeping activities (disinfection, cleaning, sterilization, waste management, etc.) to ensure a clean and safe healthcare environment. Ensuring staff is properly trained to perform their jobs and improve customer satisfaction. Monitoring the housekeeping department to ensure compliance with all healthcare regulatory agency codes. Inspections on staff and discharge rooms. Depending upon location, responsible for monitoring laundry services to ensure they are in compliance with all state and local guidelines and abide by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards. Direct daily laundry service activities to include receiving, washing, drying, folding and delivery of laundry various locations. Administrative tasks for ordering supplies and equipment, and maintaining inventory when needed. In cooperation with leadership, assists with developing and managing the budget for housekeeping function in a healthcare organization. Attends leadership and other managerial meetings as scheduled.

Requirements

  • Should have knowledge of cleaning principles, equipment operation, supply needs, chemical usage, employee development principles and leadership skills.
  • Computer, verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and customer service skills are strongly preferred.
  • Depending on department, a driver’s license, meeting all medical guidelines for Sanford Health Category III drivers is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of three years supervisory experience preferred.
