About The Position

Vertiv is seeking a Manager, Engineering - Thermal to manage customer-specified product projects requiring modification of standard products in the R&D and Engineering Department. This position will be responsible and accountable for the coordinated management of a project, over cross functional groups, directed toward strategic business and other organizational objectives. The role also has a heavy operational element in carrying out component selections, thermodynamic designs, conceptual layouts etc. Projects include modifying chilled water, direct expansion, and liquid cooling products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Thermal, or Electrical)
  • At least 5 years of previous experience on similar projects, with experience as a supervisor or manager of people
  • Good knowledge of thermodynamics and refrigeration principles are essential.
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics, physics, engineering and manufacturing processes.
  • English – Intermediate level – written and spoken.
  • A high level of motivation combined with leadership abilities is required.
  • Knowledge of technical norms and standards.
  • Competences: result-oriented, team player, careful to details, flexible.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a multi-disciplinary, multi-country engineering team managing many quick projects simultaneously.
  • Develop reporting and tracking programs to assure the team activities are on target for schedule and cost.
  • Identify key issues and drive decisions to ensure that the projects do not slip. Identify and resolve risks/issues quickly.
  • Communicate with other managers, upper management, or outside vendors and other plants, as required.
  • Responsible that the project is following the Special Feature Enhancements process.
  • Facilitate cross-functional planning and project execution.
  • Deliver a fast and customer focused response on 'engineered to order complex' (ETO-C) projects, where a new solution is based on an existing and well proven platform.
  • Lead the re-engineering of existing products, collaborating with Sales, Procurement and Industrial Engineering, being aware of the customer’s needs.
  • Approve and review product documentation (CAD drawings, specifications, bills of material).
  • Meet objectives of cost, quality, environment and time of execution.
  • Analyze and resolve technical problems as regards products under his/her responsibility.
