About The Position

As a Software Engineering Manager, you will lead teams building next-generation digital and edge software solutions that power both airborne and ground systems within our In-Flight Connectivity (IFC) ecosystem. You’ll be responsible for driving engineering excellence across legacy and modern technology stacks — from C++ and embedded systems on the aircraft to scalable distributed applications in the AWS Cloud. This role requires a strong technical foundation, hands-on leadership, and the ability to drive cross-functional alignment in a fast-paced, safety-critical domain.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience (or 9+ years equivalent industry experience).
  • 2+ years of team leadership or project management experience.
  • Proficiency with C++, Java, and Python; experience with AWS or other cloud platforms preferred.
  • Knowledge of Agile/DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in a global environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Understating of Docker, Kubernetes stack would be preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers across software development, testing, and deployment for edge and cloud-based applications.
  • Oversee modernization of legacy C++ systems and integration with new Java and Python-based services.
  • Ensure software design integrity, scalability, and reliability in a hybrid (edge-air-ground) architecture.
  • Drive adherence to rigorous quality, performance, and environmental standards consistent with aviation-grade systems.
  • Partner with Systems, Hardware, and Cloud Engineering teams to define interfaces, design APIs, and establish automated test pipelines.
  • Contribute to architecture reviews, code quality standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Hire, develop, and retain top technical talent; foster an inclusive, high-performance culture.
  • Manage budgets, capacity, and project schedules, ensuring timely delivery of mission-critical software.
  • Anticipate risks and proactively resolve technical and organizational blockers.
  • Collaborate with program management, production, and product teams to translate business needs into actionable engineering outcomes.
