About The Position

The Manager, Engineering/R&D - Low Voltage UL Switchboard / Switchgear will develop and execute the R&D strategy in alignment with company goals and market trends. The Manager will lead and manage a team of engineers and researchers, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance feedback; manage R&D budgets, timelines, and resource allocation to maximize ROI; and oversee the planning, development, and execution of R&D projects from concept through commercialization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of previous experience on similar projects.
  • Good knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical principles are essential.
  • Knowledge of electricity, physics, engineering and manufacturing processes.
  • A high level of motivation combined with leadership abilities is required.
  • Knowledge of technical norms and UL standards a plus.
  • Competences: result-oriented, team player, careful to details, flexible.
  • Travel: 25%
  • Availability to travel on request between South Carolina (base) and production facilities in Ireland.

Responsibilities

  • Identify new technologies, tools, and methodologies that can enhance product performance or reduce costs.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of R&D outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, quality standards, and intellectual property protections.
  • Present progress, findings, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Track industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging innovations to inform R&D priorities.
  • Lead the team assigned to the specific project.
  • Develop reporting and tracking programs to assure the project is on target for schedule and cost.
  • Identify key issues and drive decisions to ensure that the project does not slip.
  • Identify key risks and have a contingency plan.
  • Communicate with other managers, upper management, or outside vendors and other plants, as required.
  • Responsible that the project is following the NPDI Process.
  • To manage the development of new R&D products in the C&I and Data Center sectors for high profile and well-known global datacenter customers.
  • Work in a multi-disciplinary engineering team on global products focusing on high-performance, cost-effective design and market leading innovation.
  • To approve and review product documentation (CAD drawings, specifications, bills of material).
  • To meet objectives of cost, quality, environment and time of execution, achieving the best trade-off between market and internal customer needs.
  • To analyze and resolve technical problems as regards products under his/her responsibility.
