About The Position

Manages the Department of Engineering annual budget for salaries, contracts, utilities, capital equipment and maintenance supplies. Manages all phases of capital equipment process, inclusive of schedule, invoices, Strata project prioritization and Strata project submission. Reports on monthly budget variances. Manages central office support for Engineering job change requests and payroll actions. Manages central office support for Strategic Sourcing purchasing and contract administration. Manages contracts for Engineering services including landscaping and grounds, elevators, kitchen equipment, fire and life safety systems, electrical and HVAC systems, and plumbing systems. Manages contract labor workforces including painting, drywall, ceilings, flooring, electrical, mechanical, HVAC and plumbing. Coordinates project expenses with the Facilities Planning Department. Assists Facilities Planning with the development of project budgets. Develops a preventative maintenance supply budget and evaluate supply chain contracting opportunities. Available 24/7 to Engineering managers and on-call staff to assist with evaluating building system failures and coordinate repair responses. Manages the Engineering risk assessment and life safety impairment process and coordinate impairments with EH&S, Risk Management, Factory Mutual, City of Winston Salem Fire Department and Medical Center contractors. Analyzes electric, natural gas, fuel oil, and water utility expenses and reports variances and unfavorable trends. Assists the Director and Associate Director with evaluation of energy savings and conservation measures. Maintains departmental policies on the institutions shared drive and consult with EH&S and Compliance for annual policy reviews and updates. Manages Engineering employee safety training and consults with EH&S to ensure employee training compliance. Manages compliance documentation for all regulatory authorities and accreditation organizations including CMS, The Joint Commission, AAALAC, the City of Winston Salem, Forsyth County, Department of Health and Human Services, and applicable state Department of Environment and Natural Resources. Manages the CMS computerized maintenance management system. Ensure communications and work order submissions from the Service Response Center remain operational 24/7. Ensures that the CMS online network is operational 24/7. Expands the CMS work order system to new building acquisitions including Lexington Medical Center and Wilkes Regional Medical Center. Hires, trains, coaches, and develops staff. Conducts staff performance evaluations. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending seminars, reviewing engineering publications and participating in professional societies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering.
  • Applicable state driver's license
  • Excellent oral, written, and listening communication skills
