About The Position

nCino offers exciting career opportunities for individuals who want to join the worldwide leader in cloud banking. Lead nCino's Data Platform team and build the data infrastructure that powers decision-making across our entire product portfolio. You'll manage the Databricks-based platform that serves as the data backbone for all of nCino, enabling product teams to deliver data-driven features to customers while supporting internal analytics, data science, and engineering teams. This role requires a governance mindset that can balance security and compliance requirements with the innovation needed to keep pace with our AI-native transformation. You'll work across engineering teams, analysts, data scientists, and security to democratize data, making it reliable and easy to use throughout the product. As a manager, you'll set technical strategy for your team, drive roadmap development, and establish engineering standards that scale across the organization. Beyond the technical work, you'll build and develop a high-performing engineering team through coaching, mentorship, and active participation in each engineer's growth. You'll translate business needs into platform capabilities, balancing hands-on technical guidance with the leadership skills needed to attract, retain, and develop top talent. This role requires someone who can collaborate cross-functionally with product and solutions teams, taking feedback and translating it into scalable platform improvements. You'll foster an automation-first culture that prioritizes efficiency and innovation while maintaining production-grade reliability for mission-critical banking operations.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field with 8+ years of relevant experience and 2+ years of management experience or combination of education and experience
Proficiency in more than one major programming language
Deep understanding of the foundation of software engineering principles, including system design, architecture, and development practices
Proven success in a fast-paced development environment, with a focus on improving development practices and processes to enhance team efficiency, collaboration, and code quality in a large-scale organization
Proven success as a coach and mentor of technical staff
Ability to motivate yourself and others, prioritize your own work, and adapt and thrive in a dynamic team environment
Excellent problem solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences

Responsibilities

Develops and implements roadmaps, resourcing, project scheduling and oversight, and process improvements for team and function
Identifies gaps and sets technical strategy for the team
Participates in cross-functional initiatives and leadership meetings
Drives the evolution of engineering standards and practices across the department
Provides technical guidance and mentoring to engineers, identifying individual growth needs for engineers
Accomplish results through professional employees by setting project timelines, priorities based on project objectives, and oversight of ongoing assignments.
Attract, select, and retain high-level talent through active participation in performance management and professional development of team members.
Leverage AI tools and techniques to enhance software development activities, including code generation, testing, debugging, and optimization.
