The North Carolina Department of Revenue is seeking a skilled and confident Employee Relations professional to support a workforce of over 1,400 employees across the state. This role is a working supervisor position designed for someone who can navigate complex situations, build trust quickly, and provide clear, thoughtful guidance in moments that matter. Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex employee relations investigations, including handling sensitive matters with confidentiality and sound judgment.
  • Proven experience advising leaders at all levels on employment policies, performance management, conflict resolution, and organizational culture.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret trends in employee relations data and recommend proactive strategies.
  • Experience partnering with HR, Legal, and senior leadership to ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws and to support organizational goals.
  • Three (3) years of directly related experience in the concentration of Employee Relations, Equal Employment Opportunity, Performance Management, or Legal.
  • Bachelor's degree, typically in Human Resources or related field from an appropriately accredited institution and 4 years of experience; or
  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and 6 years of progressive experience in Human Resources; or
  • Equivalent combination or education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret trends in employee relations data and recommend proactive strategies.
  • Partner with HR, Legal, and senior leadership to ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws and to support organizational goals.
