Is responsible for the management of the day-to-day EMS operations for the entire Network, including Howard 911, EMS transportation and duties as assigned in North Indianapolis Regions. Provides guidance to the EMS staff and ensures adherence to established policies, protocols and providing guidance toward achieving department or unit goals and objectives. Performs EMS job duties within scope as needed. Works with EMS affiliates within CHNw regions in conjunction with EMS liaison. This person will strive to improve the quality of services provided by EMS by building strong relations and communication with network EMS education and EMS medical director. Develops, communicates, and builds consensus for goals that are in alignment with the network. Provides leadership to staff and supervisors by communicating and providing guidance toward achieving department or unit goals and objectives. Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of issues, data, processes and situations requires evaluation of multiple factors. Exercises of judgement within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action for moderately complex issues. Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to be flexible with work hours. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Paramedic or EMTcertification (Required), IF EMT, incumbent will have 3 years to obtain a Paramedic Certification through NREMT. (Required)
  • 5+ years: working as a certified paramedic or EMT (Required)
  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to be flexible with work hours.

Responsibilities

  • Exercises of judgement within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action for moderately complex issues.
  • Supervises subordinate personnel ensuring compliance with all respects of hospital policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for daily auditing and billing requirements on all ambulance patient care records.
  • Participates in daily quality assurance and improvement activities.
  • Develops and maintains appropriate rapport with state organizations. This includes all census counts and state applications necessary to maintain provider certification.
  • Maintains payroll for EMS through Kronos system.
  • Drives the ambulance in a safe manner in accordance with Indiana Law related to emergency vehicles.
  • Minimal difficulties with area mapping systems.
  • Operates ambulance and hospital radio equipment according to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Completes initial and ongoing patient assessments and takes appropriate action when significant changes are recognized in a timely manner.
  • Gathers all pertinent information related to each specific patient and relates this information to the Emergency Department via the cellular telephone/radio system.
  • Documents patient assessment systematically, initial treatment, and ongoing assessment/treatment according to accepted unit standing orders, protocols and unit standards.
  • Administers basic and advanced life support according to accepted standards while adhering to standing orders and protocols.
  • ALS skills include, but are not limited to, medication administration, IV placement, intubations, and monitor interpretation.
  • Functions in an accurate, precise, calm manner in emergency and crisis situations assuring that optimal care is delivered to all patients involved.
  • Maintains current certification records on all required skill levels.
  • Maintains the privacy and security of protected health information (PHI), the confidentiality of all information, and conducts all aspects of patient care charting, billing, and all operations within the system in a professional and ethical manner in accordance with Federal, State, and CHRH rules and regulations.
  • Is responsible for the implementation and execution of Network EMS strategies
