The Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Center (NGMC) within Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Microelectronics Layout Section Manager to join our team at the Space Park Foundry (SPF) in Redondo Beach, CA. At SPF, we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for both internal and commercial customers, as well as for emerging technology programs. Our Space Park semiconductor foundry supports various production microelectronics technologies, including Gallium Arsenide, Indium Phosphide, Silicon Carbide, and Gallium Nitride. Additionally, we drive cutting-edge technology development in areas such as 3D Heterogeneous Integration, semiconductor materials, manufacturing processes, and advanced transistors. These advanced technological capabilities are crucial performance differentiators for many of Northrop Grumman’s ground, avionic, and space systems.

Requirements

  • 5 Years professional experience with Bachelor of Science in any STEM field; 3 Years with Masters; 1 Year with PhD degree.
  • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing or mask layout.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an SCI clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of leadership experience.
  • 2 years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing or mask layout.
  • Masters or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or Computer Science.
  • Experience in semiconductor device modeling.
  • Experience in scripting for task automation.
  • Active DoD Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a section of 15 engineers and technicians to perform mask layout, Process Design Kit (PDK) development, and technology development.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, including communicating with customers and stakeholders, employee development and mentoring, improvements in workflows, prioritization and workload management, personnel recruiting and retention, and performance management.
  • Collaborate with multiple customers and organizations on IRAD, CRAD, and production projects.
  • Engage with external design and product development teams.
  • Develop, maintain, and effectively communicate device modeling and process design kits roadmaps.
  • Perform engineering tasks for advancing Space Park Foundry technologies.
  • Perform mask layouts during high-intensity periods.
