About The Position

This position will be directly responsible for managing the plant EHS team and for providing leadership, direction in support of the Company’s goals, local regulations and world class practices.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of EHS&S experience with progressively increasing scope and responsibility.
  • Manufacturing experience required.
  • 4 year degree in an EHS related field preferred, other degrees considered with direct EHS work experience. Similar Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of EHS&S
  • Ability to integrate EHS&S with other technical and business disciplines
  • Demonstrated ability to drive and influence the development of new principles, concepts and business results reflecting a broad range of stakeholder needs
  • Comprehensive understanding of EHS&S regulations and requirements
  • Track record of providing leadership in the definition, communication and execution of high impact EHS&S programs, systems and initiatives
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work with and influence people at all levels inside and external to the company
  • Strong problem solving skills/ experience
  • Ability to work both in a hands-on and leadership capacity
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with high degree of flexibility
  • Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift
  • Will climb stairs on an occasional basis
  • Will lift, push or pull up to 27 pounds on an occasional basis
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
  • 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards)
  • All associates working on the production floor may be required to wear a respirator at any given time and thus, the ability to wear a respirator is a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair)

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing day-to-day plant EHS operational support and results
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and First Solar policies
  • Mentoring the plant EHS team
  • Establishing partnerships with internal organizations to proactively influence the integration of EHS into their operational activities and plans
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives at the plant – including ensuring that compliance/ risk assurance processes are robust (e.g. self-identifying/ correcting issues)
  • Partnering closely with other regional and global EHS teams in the sharing of lessons learned and best practices
  • Represent EHS and First Solar to key external stakeholders (e.g. regulators, community, industry peers, customers)
