About The Position

The Manager, Economist, Ad Measurements and Revenue Operations at Petco is responsible for leading the development and execution of yield management strategies to optimize revenue across various media channels. This role involves financial tracking, forecasting, and pricing strategies to maximize campaign performance and align with Petco's revenue goals. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in advanced analytics, pricing strategies, and machine learning to enhance vendor return on ad spend (ROAS) and drive actionable insights.

Requirements

  • MBA or advanced degree in Data Science, Economics, Finance, or a business-related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in yield management, revenue management, or data-driven pricing strategy, preferably within advertising or media industries.
  • Proficiency in advanced data analysis tools and machine learning frameworks (e.g., Python, R, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, or Spark).
  • Proven ability to analyze complex datasets, with a strategic mindset and expertise in revenue optimization, yield management, and pricing strategies.
  • Experience with advanced modeling techniques and machine learning applications in business contexts.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across business and technical teams.
  • Experience with large-scale distributed systems, such as Hadoop or Spark, is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation and maintenance of accurate ad demand forecasts across Petco's advertising channels.
  • Inform dynamic pricing and inventory decisions based on forecasts and data-driven insights.
  • Collaborate with Account Management, Ad Ops, and Campaign Management teams to ensure consistent reporting and track actuals against financial targets.
  • Develop and execute yield management strategies that maximize revenue and profitability through inventory forecasting, optimization, and data analysis.
  • Establish risk mitigation plans for campaign under-delivery, collaborating closely with Ad Ops and Campaign Management teams.
  • Monitor and optimize ad inventory, ensuring efficient utilization and minimizing unsold impressions.
  • Design and implement data-driven pricing strategies for ad types and placements, considering audience targeting, traffic forecasts, and market demand.
  • Analyze historical and real-time campaign data to identify trends and actionable recommendations, enhancing revenue performance and vendor satisfaction.
  • Define and track KPIs for revenue, yield, and pricing; regularly report findings to leadership and recommend strategic adjustments.
  • Leverage machine learning techniques to develop scalable measurement and optimization solutions.
  • Collaborate with other data scientists and engineers to innovate on advanced ad measurement solutions that leverage Generative AI, NLP, and other emerging technologies.
  • Act as a key advisor to cross-functional teams to optimize campaign pacing, performance, and vendor ROAS.
  • Collaborate with business and product teams to integrate new ad features, capabilities, and future launches into yield management strategies.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitive pricing strategies, and emerging technologies to guide strategic adjustments.
