The Manager, Digital Design (Site & Digital Experiences) leads the execution and evolution of Ulta Beauty’s owned digital experiences, ensuring high‑quality, accessible and brand‑forward creative across key site placements. This role partners closely with Ecommerce & Digital, IT, Customer & Growth Marketing, Integrated Marketing and OneCreative to bring campaigns, events, buying guides and evergreen experiences to life through scalable components and thoughtful storytelling. This leader balances day‑to‑day delivery with platform thinking—continually improving how we build, govern and scale content experiences across ulta.com and the app. The Manager, Digital Design (Site & Digital Experiences) will manage a team of 5 designers.

Requirements

  • Proven leader and motivator of design professionals
  • 2 years People Leadership or Strong Team‑Lead Experience
  • 6–10 years of experience in digital creative design, site content, UX or digital production
  • Phenomenal portfolio of work, preferably with experience working in an e-commerce business
  • Strong understanding of Content management systems, Component‑based site architecture, ADA and accessibility best practices
  • Elegant graphic, typography and web design skills
  • Proven experience leading large‑scale site experiences in a complex, cross‑functional environment
  • Experience partnering closely with IT / Product / UX teams
  • Strong operational mindset paired with high creative standards
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity and evolving priorities
  • Retail, commerce, or consumer brand experience strongly preferred
  • High level of proficiency with the following programs & languages: Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, HTML/CSS
  • Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design, Media Arts or similar
  • A passion for Ulta Beauty, its products, and its guests is a requirement

Responsibilities

  • Leads a team of designers; foster strong partnership, accountability and trust across a fast‑moving, cross‑functional environment. Lead, coach and develop team members.
  • Own end‑to‑end creative execution of site experiences tied to marketing and merchandising priorities, including: Buying guides, Event pages, Weekly site placements, Marketing and campaign landing pages
  • Ensure experiences ladder back to storytelling priorities and brand goals while remaining visually elevated and on‑
  • Partner with IT and Ecommerce&Digital to define, evolve and operationalize site components, testing and layout of new pages
  • Serve as the content experience voice in component planning — advocating for usability, storytelling, and creative consistency.
  • Champion AI-driven automation and personalization initiatives while fostering creative innovation in how content and experiences are designed, tested, and delivered on-site.
  • Lead ADA compliance across creative site experiences, ensuring accessibility standards are embedded into design reviews, content modeling, component usage
  • Partner with Creative Operations on processes, templates and review timelines
  • Document and socialize best practices for building site experiences efficiently and consistently.
  • Inspire and motivate designers to be innovatively progressive through storytelling, typography, photo styling and creative exploration along with the use of data to evolve the brand and guest experience
  • Partners and aligns with the Creative Managers, to create greater efficiencies in process and collaboration across the different pillars on the Creative Team
