About The Position

As Manager, Design and Architecture you are responsible for the management, review and guidance of schematic design, detailed design, drawings and specifications prepared by Design Team. Development of “sense of place” elements, building finishes and terminal program development; including airline, tenants, agency and other stakeholder requirements, and general design management tasks and activities associated with airport terminal design and construction. This position will report to the Director, Design and Architecture and coordinate day to day with dedicated Project Team members on specific projects.

Requirements

  • With an undergraduate University degree in Architecture, you have a minimum of 7 years’ work experience in architecture, with at least 3 years experience in design and construction.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with impacted stakeholders
  • Strong capabilities in reporting and analysis are matched by strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and implementation, program management, change management, and business systems experience
  • Knowledge of local construction regulations, permit requirements and approval processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required; must be comfortable connecting and communicating with individuals at all levels of an organization
  • Demonstrated ability to provide consulting-style support to leaders, analyze complex business challenges, and develop actionable recommendations that drive commercial and operational outcomes.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to use data to inform decisions, track performance, and measure impact.
  • Exceptional skills in building, maintaining, and influencing relationships across internal teams, network locations, clients, and external partners.
  • Ability to directly create presentation-level documents and reports supporting project deliverables
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills, including experience engaging with senior executives, boards, and client stakeholders.
  • Comfortable operating in a matrixed environment, thriving in ambiguity, and adapting to evolving priorities and complex organizational needs.
  • Aptitude for analyzing complex issues, resolving conflicts, and making informed decisions while maintaining objectivity.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring high performance and sustainable outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of schematic design documents and detailed design documents and liaise with project team, operations, facilities staff and other key stakeholders on a regular and as needed basis to achieve a set of documents that meets project goals and objectives including; material selection, sense of place, finish details, etc, with a focus on operational and life cycle performance.
  • Reviews 30%, 50%, 75%, 90%, Tender Set, and Construction Drawings and Specifications for coordination of architectural elements, building envelope and interior finishes with various trade disciplines;
  • Support Project Team members with review of Tenant retail and concession drawings and specifications for conformance to the projects Tenant Design Criteria Manual (TDCM) or similar;
  • Support Project Team with the design development of Airline support space, including administration offices, back of house support area, ticketing and lounges;
  • Reviews and provides feedback on shop drawings, mock-ups, and samples as they relate to building core/shell and building finishes, and liaise with the Designer/Contractor on changes to the design to meet project and stakeholder requirements;
  • Reviews and assists in the development of a Tenant Design Criteria Manual (TDCM) with the Design Team;
  • Review and assist in the development and implementation of architectural “feature zones”, wayfinding, art and materials that conform to the projects “Sense of Place” with the Designer/Contractor and selected artists;
  • Coordinate the installation of feature art or specialty finishes for feature zones with support of Project Team.
  • Assist and coordinate with Project Team the selection and procurement of select furniture (soft seating, foot court seating, hold room seating, landscaping, waste receptacles, etc;
  • Assists with the development and review of Owner related contemplated scope changes as they relate to the work;
  • Participate in deficiency inspections for the various project phases; record defects and assess the value of work to be corrected;
  • Assists with contract administration, reporting and progress tracking of the work including the contractual closeout documentation required to obtain substantial performance of the work by AOR/EOR;
  • Other tasks and activities across the Vantage network of airports in support of architectural design and construction elements;
  • Other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the position may be assigned
