About The Position

The position involves driving the creation of data products in support of Global Banking and Markets (GBM) at Scotiabank. The role focuses on developing requirements, reviewing data models, and implementing data quality monitoring to support business and regulatory initiatives. The successful candidate will analyze data sourcing needs and contribute to the overall data management practice, ensuring data quality and governance are maintained.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of capital markets products.
  • Experience with project delivery, business analysis, and user acceptance testing.
  • Experience with data and metadata management tools and techniques.
  • Organizational skills in communicating cross-functionally, conducting interviews with subject matter experts, and documenting findings.
  • SQL and Python skills.
  • Minimum qualifications: Undergraduate Degree in Data Science, Analytics, IT or Business discipline preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience working with capital markets and/or corporate banking products and processes is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in Financial Services.

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish language is a plus.
  • Some knowledge of trade lifecycle.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. PowerBI, Tableau, Looker).
  • Knowledge of global financial regulatory environment is an advantage but not required.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform, Knowledge Graph, and Data Mesh.

Responsibilities

  • Perform data analysis on GBM streaming and batch platforms.
  • Facilitate GBM data sourcing needs for business decision making, regulatory, and analytics use cases.
  • Document definitions and contextual understanding, acting as a subject matter expert of Capital Markets data to technical teams.
  • Review data model and data onboarding to GBM DP.
  • Support data initiatives as assigned.
  • Understand and support leading practices related to data management.
  • Contribute to the governance of GBM producer domains.
  • Keep abreast with changes in data pipeline, business process, and technology process related to assigned GBM domains.
  • Contribute to overall data management practice and capabilities relating to data quality, data provisioning, metadata, lineage, reference data, issue management, and change management.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships.
