Wayvia is seeking a Manager of Data Engineering to lead the development and operation of its data platform. This role is responsible for data warehousing, pipeline development, analytics enablement, and data quality. The Manager will also lead and develop a small data engineering team.

  • Lead migration from multiple warehouses to a unified Snowflake environment
  • Design and operate scalable data pipelines supporting large-scale analytics and AI/ML
  • Establish data quality, monitoring, governance, and security standards
  • Own technical architecture and tooling decisions across analytics and AI workloads
  • Assess team capabilities and define the right mix of engineers, analysts, and scientists
  • Hire, mentor, and develop a small, high-performing data team
  • Create clear roles, growth paths, and expectations to enable autonomous execution
  • Translate business needs into reliable data solutions
  • Partner cross-functionally to prioritize analytics and data initiatives
  • Enable AI/ML use cases through strong data foundations
  • Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Define SLAs for data availability, quality, and performance
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and documentation for all core pipelines
  • Scale infrastructure responsibly with cost and reliability in mind
  • Ensure continuity, resiliency, and recovery across data systems
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Snowflake and relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server)
  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering, with a proven track record of consolidating disparate systems into unified platforms
  • Experience managing petabyte-scale data infrastructure and handling billions of rows
  • 5+ years of experience supporting AI/ML initiatives, including building data infrastructure and pipelines to support model deployment
  • Proven leadership experience with a player-coach mentality, comfortably balancing technical contributions (e.g., writing SQL) with team strategy and management
  • Experience building and scaling data teams, from mentoring junior engineers to leading more senior talent
  • Expertise in data quality, monitoring, and anomaly detection at a massive scale, ensuring reliability and accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, from executives to engineers
