The Department of Ophthalmology seeks a highly skilled and motivated person to lead the Mobile Eye Clinic and OPTIC Lab. The operations of its innovative Electric Vehicle (EV) Mobile Eye Clinic and manage the Ophthalmology Technology and Innovation Central (OPTIC) Lab. Launched in June 2024, the OPTIC Lab is a collaborative hub for advancing eye care through teleophthalmology, artificial intelligence (AI), remote monitoring, wearable technologies, and blindness prevention programs. The Mobile Eye Clinic, a cornerstone initiative aligned with Penn Medicine’s Climate and Sustainability Action Plan (CSAP) targeting carbon neutrality by 2042, delivers accessible vision care to patients aged 21+ in underserved communities using eco-friendly practices and advanced diagnostic technologies. This dual-role position oversees the Mobile Eye Clinic’s daily operations, including patient diagnostics, telemedicine consultations, and sustainable logistics, while managing the OPTIC Lab’s research and innovation activities. The successful candidate will ensure seamless integration of cutting-edge technologies, foster interdisciplinary collaborations, and support scalable blindness prevention models.
