About The Position

The Manager of Crew Business Insights at Delta Air Lines is responsible for leading the insights team within the Crew Business Insights & Predictive Analytics (BI&PA) department. This role focuses on identifying and quantifying cost-saving opportunities within the Flight Operations budget, utilizing advanced data analysis to drive operational efficiencies. The successful candidate will collaborate with various stakeholders, mentor a team of analysts, and communicate insights effectively to senior management, ultimately contributing to substantial savings and improved decision-making within the organization.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data analysis, business insights, consulting, or operations research with a focus on operational efficiencies.
• Strong expertise in data analytics tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R).
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex data insights and business impact clearly.
• Strong business acumen, with the ability to identify and drive cost-saving initiatives through data-backed insights.
• Proven problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with a strategic mindset and strong focus on execution.
• Experience influencing decision-making at all levels of the organization through data storytelling.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and build strong relationships with stakeholders across departments.
• Demonstrates that privacy is a priority when handling personal data.
• Embraces a diverse set of people, thinking, and styles.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in consulting analytics role.
• Understanding of the Delta Pilot Working Agreement or other airline collective Bargaining Agreements.
• Familiarity with FAA pilot regulations.
• Experience with crew operating systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent field.

Responsibilities

• Lead efforts to identify and quantify cost-saving opportunities within all Flight Operations departments.
• Conduct advanced data analysis to understand inefficiencies in crew operations and develop strategies to align with business objectives.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to validate analytics findings and proposed value capture.
• Communicate insights effectively to senior management, quantifying the value of recommended actions and cost-saving initiatives.
• Build clear, data-driven business cases to support operational changes and influence company-wide decision-making.
• Translate complex analytics into actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of analysts focused on Flight Operations and cost optimization.
• Define and prioritize team goals, ensuring alignment with the broader Flight Operations strategy.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team, encouraging data-driven decision-making across all levels.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to align on initiatives that drive cost efficiency.
• Serve as a liaison between the analytics team and other departments, ensuring collaborative and efficient execution of cost-saving strategies.
• Partner with the data product team to enhance data availability and quality, supporting more robust and accurate analysis.
• Establish and track key performance metrics to monitor the success of cost-saving initiatives and identify areas for further improvement.
• Leverage industry best practices and emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement of analytical methods, tools, and reporting systems.
