Seaspan's fleet has evolved over time to meet the varying needs of our customer base. We own vessels in a wide range of sizes, from 2,500 TEU to 24,000 TEU. Our main operating offices are located in Singapore, Vancouver, Hong Kong, and Mumbai. The Manager, Corporate Development will focus on asset investing, corporate investing and integration, capital structuring strategy, structure solutions and products, board reporting, investor relations, and strategy and development. The Manager, Corporate Development will support the delivery of the company's core strategy as a marine asset manager / operator and will also undertake financial research and forecasting related to prospective investment opportunities. This position requires creative thinking, independent work, and the ability to communicate effectively. The incumbent will be a self-starter with a background in investment banking, consulting, or corporate development, with experience in private or public investing functions. The incumbent must have immaculate attention to detail and a drive for continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting or related field
  • Previous experience in corporate development, investment banking, management consulting, and/or private equity investing roles
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Clear, concise writing skills
  • Strong understanding of financial statements and ability to create detailed cash flow forecast models
  • Extensive financial modeling skills and experience in Excel
  • Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Must read, write and speak fluent English with a high degree of proficiency
  • Self-starter and ability to work under high pressure and tight deadlines
  • Excellent PowerPoint skills with proficiency in the Microsoft office suite
  • Strong attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Lead internal intrinsic valuation work, including finding levers to increase shareholder value
  • Provide financial evaluation of project investment opportunities including review of project & company documents and financing agreements
  • Conducts ad hoc and strategic analyses to support decision making and key initiatives, including market analysis, commercial projects, operating cost review and profitability analysis
  • Extensive financial modeling including sensitivity analysis to support potential investment opportunities
  • Create investment memoranda to support potential investment opportunities, which include economic analysis and market studies
  • Support the Business Development team in asset acquisition, including performing asset acquisition analysis and verifying Business Development’s assessments through cash flow models to evaluate key financial metrics and intangible aspects of potential deals
  • Provides executive management with clear insights into drivers of business growth, risks, and opportunities that influence business decisions on how to manage revenue growth and profitability
  • Develop statistical and economic models, collect and analyze data, and identify trends and economic relationships targeting opportunities that enable the investment and growth strategy
  • In partnership with the Commercial departments, identify creative financing avenues to offer innovative customer solutions
  • Participate in due diligence and negotiations for new investments dealing with purchase agreements, partnership arrangements, financing arrangements, and other contracts which impact forecasted return
  • Conducts research and collects information on customers, peers, and other counterparties using public information to assist in developing financial market forecast models and assessing business opportunities as required.
  • Prepares presentations to the Board of Directors, Senior Management, Investors, Lenders, Banks, and Rating Agencies
  • Support and provide analysis for long term capital plan, including credit facility structuring and negotiations, and credit rating analysis
  • Provide ongoing monitoring of assets & departments within the company, including review of weekly/monthly operating results and maintaining projected performance.
  • Working alongside FP&A team, develop and help implement strategies for the company to increase revenue, improve operations, strengthen financial controls, and increase shareholder value
  • Provide analytical support for the Investor Relations function
  • Establish and maintain relationship with industry, trade and professional organizations to enhance visibility of the portfolio companies
  • Holds responsibility for providing best in class customer solutions participating in a cross functional team
  • Partners and develops strong relationships with key points of contact in relevant stakeholders within each customer organization
  • Participates in cross functional initiatives by providing a technical orientation to customer solutions and relationships
  • Ensures customer orientation in the delivery services among the respective departments
  • Manages and supports junior team members
