About The Position

The Manager, Corporate Accounting - Benefits will be primarily responsible for the accounting and reporting related to the Company’s various employee benefit and compensation plans. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for providing management with financial data and recommendations for use in accounting and financial reporting, as well as decision-making on major issues. This role offers opportunities for learning, involvement in impactful projects, and growth within the finance and accounting group. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Benefits Accounting and is part of the Finance and Accounting Department located in Washington, DC and will be an on-site role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and CPA license required with 9+ years of experience OR Master's degree in field with 7+ years of experience and CPA license OR Doctoral degree in field and CPA license with 4+ years experience.
  • Experience in accounting, with specific experience in benefits accounting or related areas, stock based compensation accounting.
  • Experience in benefit plan audits, including familiarity with audit procedures and documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including US GAAP and regulatory requirements related to employee benefits.
  • Experience in preparing and filing Form 5500 for employee benefit plans.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of benefit-related transactions, including stock-based compensation (options, RSUs, and PSUs), 401k funding and distributions, health and welfare plans, and pension plans including international plans.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports related to benefits accounting, collaborating with the finance, legal, and HR teams to provide data for financial statements and audits as well as ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations applicable to employee benefits.
  • Manage intercompany allocations related to benefits expenses, ensuring accurate allocation and resolution of discrepancies.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement within the benefits accounting function and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement changes.
  • Collaborate with payroll and legal counsel to ensure proper taxation of benefits and resolve any issues related to highly compensated employees, multi-state payroll, and expats as well as ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, such as SEC regulations and proxy rules.
  • Assist in the monthly close process by preparing various monthly journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
  • Support management in completing special projects, ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests.
