Job SummaryControl Systems IG Solutions manager provides leadership and management of the OT Data Solutions division to ensure efficient, reliable, and secure operations of OT data application systems. OT data applications gather and analyze PMU (Phasor Measurement Unit) data, Power Quality Data, and other non-operational data transmitted to control centers. This manager also supports data applications related to Transmission Energy Management System (EMS) and Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS). In addition, this role develops and enforces processes and procedures to ensure compliance with ERCOT protocols and applicable NERC CIP Standards.

Requirements

  • Requires Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Requires minimum of ten (10) years of experience related to control center systems: EMS/ADMS/SCADA.
  • understand SCADA protocols and RTU communication.
  • understand the electric transmission and the distribution grid technologies.
  • understand ERCOT protocol requirements and applicable NERC standards.
  • Able to certify and use personal protective equipment, such as respirator, safety glasses, hardhat, gloves, protective footwear and earplugs on a daily basis.
  • Able to demonstrate and apply the manual dexterity to operate a personal computer and common office equipment.
  • Able to communicate either written and verbal communications either in person or through technical equipment such as telephone.
  • Able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Able to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • Required to participate in CenterPoint Energy's Emergency Operation Plan (EOP).
  • Able to work regular hours, with occasional or mandatory overtime; may be required to work rotating shifts.
  • Able to work indoors in an office environment and outdoors with occasional exposure to all weather conditions, equipment, and noise when at field installation sites.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to operate a motor vehicle and drive a motor vehicle daily or for extended time periods, in a safe manner.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, coordinates and directs the daily work of OT Data Solutions engineers and analysts in support of business priorities.
  • Leads the OT Data Solutions team to achieve company business goals and the individual's development objectives.
  • Oversees operations to provide system support, analysis, development, programming, and hardware maintenance for OT Data Solutions application systems utilized by the Real-time Operations, Distribution Control, and other Electric Operations groups.
  • Interfaces with Telecom, Substation Operations, and ERCOT to monitor and maintain OT non-operational data communication.
  • Responsible for assisting Cyber Security and regulatory compliance programs for ERCOT protocols and NERC standards.
  • Reviews and approves scope of work, implementation schedules, solution techniques and algorithms for functional enhancements and modifications to systems used to support Real-Time Operations, Distribution Control, and other CNP organizations.
  • Evaluates vendor systems and solutions based on business needs and end-user requirements.
  • Participate in user group activities, with other electric utilities and organizations engaged in similar projects, to identify common problem areas and solutions; and develop function implementation experiences, and methodology for improving system performance.
  • Researches and explores new technologies and initiatives in line with longer term control center applications (EMS, ADMS, etc.), and other technology support goals.
