The Contract Manager is responsible for preparing, analyzing, and negotiating business contracts at Shedd Aquarium. This hybrid position requires a minimum of two days a week in the Chicago office and involves coordinating contracts with various business units while collaborating closely with the General Counsel and Director of Purchasing. The role focuses on minimizing risk and maximizing rights for the organization through effective contract management and communication.

  • Prepare, analyze, and negotiate business contracts.
  • Coordinate contracts with individual business units.
  • Work closely with the General Counsel and Director of Purchasing on contract management.
  • Craft, evaluate, negotiate, and execute a variety of contracts.
  • Create and maintain relationships with vendors and contractors.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for legal matters concerning contracts.
  • Manage contract workflows and maintain records in the Ironclad contract management system.
  • Communicate and present information to management about contract-related matters.
  • Monitor existing contract terms and manage close-out, extension, or renewal processes.
  • Participate in internal legal counseling on contract risks and mitigation.
  • Conduct training for the contract management system as needed.
  • Resolve contract-related problems with other parties and internally.
  • Respond promptly to staff regarding contract questions.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or equivalent combination of education and ten years of experience in administration, financial services, and contract management.
  • Experience in drafting service agreements, vendor agreements, and nondisclosure agreements.
  • Knowledge of contract law and terms developed through 5 - 10 years of related work experience.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Pro and Microsoft Office, including Word.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English fluently.
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • Experience with Ironclad or similar contract management systems.
  • Experience with e-commerce and technology-related agreements, including intellectual property and data protection addendums.
