About The Position

Reporting directly to the Associate Director, Commercial Operations, the Manager, Continuous Improvement is responsible for ensuring the Aecon Commercial Operations team supports Aecon US business operations for driving operational excellence across the organization by identifying, prioritizing, and leading process improvement initiatives that increase efficiency, consistency, and value delivery. This role partners closely with Commercial Operations, field teams, and technology leaders to improve how work gets done—while ensuring improvements are practical, measurable, and sustainable. The ideal candidate is both analytical and hands‑on: someone who can diagnose root causes, facilitate change, coach teams, and embed a culture of continuous improvement across the business. Citizenship Requirement:This position requires access to nuclear facilities and information governed by U.S. federal regulations. As a result, applicants must be U.S. citizens to meet eligibility and security clearance requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • 6–10+ years of experience in continuous improvement, operational excellence, or business transformation
  • Demonstrated success leading cross‑functional process improvement initiatives
  • Strong understanding of commercial or project‑based operations
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Structured problem‑solving and analytical thinking
  • Strong facilitation and influence skills
  • Bias toward action and measurable outcomes
  • Ability to simplify complexity and drive alignment
  • High ownership, resilience, and follow‑through

Nice To Haves

  • Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt) or equivalent certification
  • Experience in construction, engineering, EPC, or capital‑intensive industries
  • Familiarity with estimating, procurement, contracts, and compliance workflows
  • Experience supporting ERP or enterprise system improvements
  • Experience working in regulated or federally governed environments

Responsibilities

  • Lead the identification, prioritization, and execution of continuous improvement initiatives across estimating, contracts, procurement, compliance, and related functions
  • Translate business challenges into structured improvement efforts using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies
  • Develop improvement roadmaps aligned with strategic objectives and operational capacity
  • Ensure improvements are scalable, repeatable, and aligned with enterprise standards
  • Facilitate current‑state assessments, value stream mapping, root cause analysis, and future‑state design
  • Reduce cycle time, rework, variation, and manual effort across key commercial processes
  • Partner with Solution Architects to ensure process improvements are properly documented and standardized
  • Validate that improved processes are aligned with system capabilities and controls
  • Define success metrics and KPIs for improvement initiatives
  • Track performance improvements and quantify benefits (cost savings, time savings, risk reduction)
  • Report progress, outcomes, and risks to leadership in a clear and actionable manner
  • Ensure sustained adoption and performance post‑implementation
  • Coach and support business leaders and teams in continuous improvement practices
  • Lead workshops, Kaizen events, and problem‑solving sessions
  • Promote a culture of accountability, data‑driven decision‑making, and continuous learning
  • Support training and enablement efforts tied to new processes and tools
  • Partner with Program Managers to align improvement initiatives with broader transformation efforts
  • Collaborate with IT and system owners on process‑driven technology enhancements
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to operations, finance, and leadership teams
  • Balance enterprise standardization with field and operational realities
