About The Position

The Manager of Continuous Improvement at Ryder Last Mile plays a crucial role in fostering a culture of continuous improvement across the organization. This position is responsible for managing CI resources across multiple operations, driving change through data-driven methodologies, engineering, and automation efforts to enhance performance in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and growth. The role requires effective collaboration with employees at all levels and functions, ensuring the successful implementation of continuous improvement strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain Management required.
  • Nine (9) years or more in the Distribution, Warehousing, Manufacturing, Transportation, or Supply Chain Logistics industry required.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Advanced knowledge in developing and managing Lean methodologies such as PDCA, Value Stream Mapping, and Kaizen.
  • Expertise in core engineering and data analysis functions including slotting, utilization, and labor planning.
  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management operations and data analytics.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain Management preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of data visualization tools like PowerBI and Tableau.
  • Knowledge of material handling solutions and automation types.
  • Familiarity with Transportation Design Tools and Mapping Software.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of continuous improvement engineering and quality professionals.
  • Lead employment decisions including hiring, promoting, coaching, and development.
  • Manage multiple and complex Supply Chain projects.
  • Regularly interact with Senior Management and/or customers.
  • Lead the development and execution of strategy, scorecarding, and key performance indicator action plans.
  • Conduct assessments of critical site and business needs with Operational leadership.
  • Develop and implement a thorough continuous improvement plan to address top business needs at Ryder sites.
  • Drive process improvement activities to achieve significant improvements in key business metrics.
  • Provide regular reports of data and actions to measure progress against performance and business objectives.
  • Provide training, coaching, and mentoring on Ryder Business System concepts.
  • Support start-ups, retrofits, and expansions including pricing inputs and certifications.
  • Develop advanced competency in engineering methods, data analysis, Lean tools, and quality standards.
  • Facilitate and execute Value Stream Maps & Kaizen Events through all stages.
  • Identify process gaps and lead CI Team to implement improvements.
  • Manage, track, and report the progress and value of transformational activities across customer accounts.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Implement and monitor a standardized corrective action system.
  • Support regulatory compliance and certification requirements.
