About The Position

The Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for providing the safest possible environment for our employees and the highest level of service for our customers. In this hands-on role, this person will lead effort to support operations by implementing and sustaining Lean Six Sigma processes aimed at improving safety, order accuracy quality, labor utilization, layout optimization, and operating costs for both existing and new products. In addition, this position will be responsible for leadership of strategic initiatives including but not limited to warehouse management system (WMS) updates, storage enhancements, and automation improvements. The position requires frequent communications with other departments including Human Resources, Sales, IT, Customer Service, and Manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. (BS) in Industrial or Logistics Engineering is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of prior experience working in engineering role within distribution environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience within distribution and/or manufacturing role.
  • Successful project management experience (initiate, plan, execute, monitor & control, closeout).
  • Experience with layout development and with specification and procurement of storage and material handling equipment.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt a plus.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office (Excel, Word and Power Point) and AutoCAD required.
  • Warehouse Management System expertise required. SAP-EWM highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Lean principles and culture with energy and enthusiasm, functioning as a leader and champion of change.
  • Assume leadership role in optimizing and customizing features and configurations of warehouse management system.
  • Leadership role in the development and implementation of comprehensive training program.
  • Establish, maintain, and support a superior 6S program, including all timely communication of all new safety initiatives.
  • Drive lean culture by training and implement a lean toolkit including but not limited to PDCA, value stream mapping, visual controls, Kaizen, and total employee involvement.
  • Lead distribution center in designing and analyzing operational solutions for projects such as storage and automation design, process and methods improvements, cost reduction, capacity enhancement, and warehouse optimization.
  • Educate, coach, and mentor employees at all levels in the organization to establish an engaged Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence culture.
  • Facilitate Kaizen events to drive continuous improvement, including joint events with customers, suppliers, and corporate staff.
