About The Position

The Construction Manager (CM) at Chipotle is responsible for overseeing the construction of new restaurants, ensuring that projects are completed to high standards within budget and on schedule. The CM manages multiple general contractors across various geographic markets, conducts quality assurance evaluations, and collaborates with architects, engineers, and local teams to ensure compliance with design standards and lease terms. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • BA/BS from a 4-year university preferred.
  • 5-8 years of construction experience with a focus on restaurant development.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel extensively as required.
  • Ability to identify top performers and develop leaders.
  • Proficient in using a PC and common programs such as Excel, Word, and Reporting Services.

  • Experience in end cap and ground-up development of restaurants.
  • Strong negotiation skills with contractors and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Managing 4 to 8 general contractors in the construction of new Chipotle restaurants to meet time commitments and budget requirements.
  • Implementing procedures for the successful utilization of outsourced general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Conducting performance evaluations of outsourced general contractors and vendors involved in the new construction process.
  • Overseeing pre-construction landlord delivery progress and resolving issues related to restaurant turnover.
  • Scheduling and coordinating 90-day walks within respective regions.
  • Identifying, qualifying, and training outsourced general contractors for active markets.
  • Negotiating scope and fees of services with general contractors to meet budget forecasts.
  • Promoting brand identity by ensuring quality of fit and finish and compliance with construction timeframes and budgets.
  • Implementing best practices to improve overall construction discipline and track cost trends.
  • Engaging in clear communications with various stakeholders including operations and restaurant staff.
