The Manager - Concrete Lab is a leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of concrete production, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This role involves a blend of technical expertise in concrete, overseeing all aspects of concrete lab operations production and testing to ensure it meets customer specifications, and industry standards. Assist VP/GM by providing technical support to achieve sales targets.

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field, AND 3+ years of related experience ...OR
  • Master's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field, AND 5+ years of related experience ...OR
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field, AND 7+ years of related experience ...OR
  • equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Operations Oversight: Managing daily operations to ensure efficient production and/or project execution.
  • Team Leadership: Manage, coach, and support the team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
  • Resource Management: Developing budgets, forecasting needs, managing material inventory, and allocating manpower and equipment effectively.
  • Sales Support & Execution: Assist in the technical product development in support of sales strategy and execution.
  • Technical Expertise & Support: Investigate and provide technical information and assistance, conduct product demonstrations and lab trials, and recommend tailored solutions to address customer business needs. Knowledge of concrete mix designs is essential.
  • Coordination and Communication: Lead meetings, coordinate third-party testing, and communicate effectively with all stakeholders to set quality expectations and resolve potential issues.
  • Develop and Implement QC Plan: Create and execute a comprehensive plan that outlines the specific testing and inspection procedures for customers, aligning plans, and specifications.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure strict adherence to industry standards, such as those set by the ACI. ASTM and ASHTO and relevant safety regulations.
  • Material Testing and Inspection: Oversee and conduct testing of raw materials (aggregates, cement, water, admixtures) and fresh/hardened concrete (slump, air content, temperature, strength testing).
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of concrete construction processes, mix designs, industrial equipment, and relevant software.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain meticulous records of all test results, inspections, and compliance documentation. Generate daily reports and track non-compliant materials or workmanship.
  • Problem Resolution: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and suppliers to identify quality issues and implement timely corrective actions.
  • Safety and Compliance: Implementing and enforcing stringent health, safety (OSHA/MSHA), quality, and environmental regulations and company policies.
