About The Position

As a Starbucks compensation manager, you will contribute to Starbucks success by leading the development and implementation of complex compensation and reward programs for major retail business units, and managing multiple key cross-functional, compensation processes for the Company. Develops and recommends compensation strategies which support defined strategies for sales, growth, competitiveness of pay, and rewarding performance. Manages cross-functional teams in the design, development, and delivery of pay programs. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.

Requirements

  • Seven or more years of implementation and administration of compensation plans
  • Five or more years of designing plans and programs for base pay and incentive pay
  • Five or more years of cross functional project management
  • Written and verbal skills, including preparation and delivery of presentation material to senior leadership
  • Experience managing others

Responsibilities

  • Sets goals for the team, builds organizational capability, and models effective ways of working to foster accountability, trust in leadership, and strong teamwork in support of business results.
  • Understands the competitive marketplace and business challenges to inform the design of compensation plans, programs, and policies.
  • Informs Starbucks’ reward strategies through research on market trends, competitive practices, and emerging compensation approaches.
  • Develops and evaluates business cases and return on investment for new and existing compensation programs that address the needs of diverse business clients.
  • Influences long‑term compensation strategy and ensures investments are appropriately reflected in long‑range financial plans.
  • Partners with cross‑functional stakeholders, including business unit leadership, to define project requirements and lead the design of incentive and base pay programs.
  • Oversees the successful delivery of compensation initiatives by integrating cross‑functional teams and ensuring business and system requirements are executed accurately.
  • Leads communication, education, and implementation of pay programs impacting broad partner populations, including store partners.
  • Drives team engagement, performance, and development by providing coaching, feedback, and growth opportunities.
