About The Position

The Manager of Clinical Research Projects at National Jewish Health is responsible for managing a multi-institution clinical research study. This role involves coordinating with various study institutions, cores, committees, administrative teams, and study investigators. The manager oversees a team of traveling coordinators who support clinical centers at remote locations, as well as local clinical coordinators who conduct study visits at National Jewish Health.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in public health, biostatistics, or related health preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years in clinical research.
  • Experience in clinical trials management preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and develops an effective staff by providing communication, leadership, guidance, and resources.
  • Determines staff qualifications and competency, including recruiting, interviewing, selecting, hiring, training, orienting, mentoring, evaluating, coaching, counseling, disciplining, and rewarding.
  • Establishes and monitors staff safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of grant applications for 21 or more study institutions, protocols, informed consents, IRB requests, and study documents.
  • Manages the NIH-required Single IRB for a large multicenter cohort study and local IRB submissions.
  • Develops study, patient recruitment, and educational materials.
  • Produces newsletters for research subjects and ensures content is accessible and visually appealing.
  • Creates and submits invoices and check requests for study-related activities.
  • Maintains and updates the project website in collaboration with the Webmaster.
  • Evaluates individual clinical center/study institution performance.
  • Reviews spirometry data and teaches proper techniques for performing spirometry testing.
  • Ensures proper blood sample handling and storage techniques.
  • Teaches study coordinators about study design, consents, and inclusion/exclusion criteria.
  • Prepares summaries and reports concerning study issues for the Executive Committee.
  • Arranges regular conference calls and meetings of all committees.
  • Maintains and organizes all electronic and paper files of project documents.
  • Creates a traveling research coordinator program including job descriptions and training.
  • Maintains knowledge of Good Clinical Practices and relevant regulations.
