About The Position

The Manager of Central Transportation oversees daily medical and non-medical transport operations of external transports for Jackson Health System, ensuring safe, efficient and professional movement of patients. Handles employee and financial oversight, dispatch efficiency, equipment maintenance, and disaster preparedness coordination. Additionally, manages communication, education, and community relations while ensuring compliance with regulations.

Requirements

  • Generally requires 5 to 7 years of related experience. Leadership experience is required.
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.

  • Valid license or certification is required as needed, based on the job or specialty.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and manages the day-to-day operations of external medical and non-medical transport for patients within Jackson Health System, including but not limited to organ transport, dialysis appointments, and transferred patients.
  • Oversees transport operations, dispatch efficiencies, appropriate assignment of level of service, communication functions, educational activities, public and community relations, and administrative tasks such as fiscal responsibility, record keeping, contract management, invoice review, payment processing, and personnel and resource utilization.
  • Advises senior leadership on transportation functions and requirements, provides data and reporting, stays informed about relevant news and trends, and ensures senior leadership is updated on legislation and political issues affecting transportation services.
  • Plans, develops, and implements transportation protocols to ensure JHS compliance, monitors trends using data collection and analysis, communicates with senior leadership regarding regulatory changes, and leads the development of operational and financial data reports.
  • Oversees the financial performance of the transportation department, develops and implements operating policies and procedures, establishes and monitors appropriate transport levels based on patients' clinical status, and ensures feedback mechanisms for transport requirements.
  • Collaborates with the JHS Department of Security and Emergency Management for disaster preparedness and ensures compliance with regulatory agencies and licensure requirements.
  • Participates in leadership educational programs, maintains equipment, prepares reports on departmental trends, status, and potential expenditures, assists in developing and submitting operating and capital budgets, and assures fiscal accountability and maintenance of financial operations within budgeted targets.
  • Performs all other related job duties as assigned.
