About The Position

Responsible to follow hospital and AAMI standards and policies as related to cleaning, decontamination and processing of surgical instrumentation and patient care equipment performed in the Central Sterile Supply Department. Responsible for the day-to-day workflow of the department and the efficiency and quality of the work performed within the department. Participates in Performance Improvement projects. Assumes weekends, on-call, holidays and shift responsibilities as assigned. Maintains education through attendance of all mandatory in services and self-study. Job may include direct supervision of students at the discretion of the area supervisor. Employee must have the same licensure or have completed the same training to satisfy the requirements of the discipline of the student.

Requirements

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • 1 - 3 years of central sterile/surgical/scrub leadership experience required.
  • CST (Certified Surgical Technologist), CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician), or RN (Registered Nurse) certification must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure efficiency and quality of work performed within the department.

  • Supervise students as needed, ensuring they meet licensure or training requirements.
