About The Position

The Category Manager develops and executes a Category Plan for a set of categories contributing to the company's stated financial goals by leveraging internal and external cross-functional teams. He or she will lead the category management process and a cross-functional team in the day-to-day practices for a set of categories and develop a relevant, innovative assortment that meets or exceeds customer needs/demands.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or applicable experience.
  • 7 years related experience with 4 years of category management, product management or merchandising experience in CPG, Retail or Foodservice industry strongly preferred.
  • A proven track record of leading direct and/or indirect associates a plus.
  • Must be able to prioritize resources, review deliverables and performance metrics, and focus on executing results while holding self and others accountable.
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and promotes 6-Step Category Management Process to drive sales growth, deliver Value, Variety, and Innovation to the marketplace while maximizing efficiency and lowering operational costs.
  • Create and maintain rolling monthly forecast using Annual Operating Plan, current performance and anticipated trend analysis with market conditions both from a supply and demand context.
  • Create and execute Category Plans to achieve the stated financial goals.
  • Contributes to a culture of an empowered team aligned at achieving stated goals through cross-functional and direct engagement.
  • Guide and perform monthly/quarterly supplier business reviews.
  • Enhance supplier relations through innovation, sales growth, and issue resolution.
  • Leads Sales driven presentations and resources to support and enable profitable, sustainable sales growth.
  • Creates insights-based field ready sales tools and monitors their effectiveness by leveraging internal, core supplier and industry resources.
  • Creates a strategy and provides approval and guidance for setting MRC (Market Relevant Costs), Cost Changes, Product Evaluations and other product and pricing related activities.
