About The Position

The Manager of Case Management and Social Services at Houston Methodist Hospital is responsible for overseeing the functional and operational aspects of the Case Management and Social Work department. This role focuses on ensuring high-quality, clinically appropriate care for patients while promoting cost-effective utilization of hospital resources. The manager is accountable for unit performance, staff management, compliance with regulations, and the implementation of policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Master's degree in Social Work (MSW); Master's in nursing preferred.
• Five years of experience in inpatient case management, social work, or utilization management, with at least one year in a management role in healthcare.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or temporary state licensure within 60 days; or LCSW license for social workers.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a nonprofit teaching hospital environment.
• Familiarity with LEAN principles for process improvement.
• Advanced negotiation and mediation skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily work activities of the Case Management/Social Work department staff.
• Ensure quality, productivity, and efficiency in departmental operations.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to staff, including performance evaluations and coaching.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures for a safe work environment.
• Plan and organize day-to-day department operations and activities.
• Drive department service standards to enhance patient/customer satisfaction.
• Monitor and revise department safety plans and accreditation guidelines.
• Manage department budget and ensure cost-effective operations.
• Identify and implement innovative solutions for workflow improvements.
• Collaborate with medical and clinical leadership to enhance service levels.
