About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Manager – Carrier Sales to lead and develop our carrier sales team. In this leadership role, you will oversee the sourcing, negotiation, and management of carrier relationships to ensure consistent capacity, competitive rates, and seamless freight movement. You will play a critical role in driving the strategic growth of our carrier network and cultivating a high-performing sales culture.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in carrier sales, freight brokerage, or logistics
  • 2+ years in a leadership or managerial role
  • Proven success in carrier procurement and relationship management
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in TMS and CRM systems
  • Deep knowledge of freight market dynamics and carrier compliance
  • Strategic thinker with a strong results orientation
  • Self-motivated and adaptable to a fast-paced, competitive environment
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage the carrier sales team, setting clear goals and providing ongoing training and support.
  • Carrier Network Development: Expand and strengthen the company’s network of reliable carriers across multiple transportation modes (FTL, LTL, intermodal).
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute carrier procurement strategies aligned with service quality, cost efficiency, and capacity growth goals.
  • Performance Management: Monitor team performance, provide coaching, and implement improvement plans as necessary.
  • Rate Negotiation: Oversee carrier rate negotiations to ensure profitability while maintaining competitive client pricing.
  • Issue Resolution: Serve as an escalation point for carrier-related challenges, including service issues, capacity shortages, and claims.
  • Market Analysis: Stay informed about market trends, freight rates, and capacity shifts to proactively manage risks and seize opportunities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with operations and customer sales teams to align carrier capabilities with client needs.
  • Reporting: Analyze key metrics, prepare detailed performance reports, and present actionable insights to senior management.
