About The Position

The Uber Freight Manager, Carrier Management leads a team of Carrier Managers who work directly with specific accounts/customers. The Manager will ensure that the Carrier Managers are providing strategic value, to their customers, through end-to-end route guide management (managing carrier performance, supporting operational excellence, and procuring carrier capacity). The Manager, Carrier Management will also manage and build the relationships with the top Uber Freight strategic carriers.

Requirements

  • At least a High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • At least 3 years People Management experience within transportation/logistics
  • Experience managing logistics providers

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field
  • 8 years or more analyzing and managing Truckload transportation, either at a shipper, carrier or 3PL. Knowledge of truckload industry, major carriers, cost drivers, and best practices.
  • Expertise in market trends as it applies to transportation cost, and high level knowledge of online bidding tools
  • High Level Knowledge of Tableau
  • Knowledge of Federal Regulations (Including DOT, FMCSA, CSA, HOS, etc.)
  • Advanced Knowledge of Microsoft Office of Google Workspace

Responsibilities

  • Lead team of direct reports. Manages own projects and team members workload.
  • Provide support and direction to Carrier Managers as needed
  • Conduct monthly or quarterly business reviews with strategic carriers. Develop and enhance relationships with top, strategic carriers.
  • Ensures direct reports are distributing scorecards for all account-specific carriers, and managing towards KPI expectations.
  • Develops SOPs and identifies best practices for all carrier management processes.
  • Understand the current market trends.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Engage with Operational teams to identify needed capacity, carrier performance, and rectify escalated issues experienced by the Operations team.
  • Engage with Client Engagement teams to align and deliver upon customer strategies.
  • Lead in the development of capacity solutions for Uber Freight Clients
  • Lead Internal Benchmarking Activities
  • Evaluate on cost outside of annual contracted rates – identify opportunities for save
  • Consulting support of Uber Freight-run procurement events and mini-bids. Oversee Carrier Manager efforts to facilitate procurement process.
