Short DescriptionPosition Summary: The Manager, Capital Construction is responsible for the leadership, planning, execution, and delivery of a diverse portfolio of facility construction and renovation projects. This role ensures that all capital projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to defined quality and safety standards. Acting as the organizational lead for construction execution, this manager will direct internal teams and external partners (architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants), while driving strategic alignment with organizational goals.Essential FunctionsKey Responsibilities:

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline required.
  • 7+ years of experience in managing large-scale capital construction projects, including direct oversight of multimillion-dollar budgets.
  • Proven experience in institutional, commercial, or infrastructure construction environments.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, including experience reporting to executive leadership and governing committees.
  • Deep knowledge of construction methods, contracts, building codes, and industry safety standards.
  • Advanced project management skills; PMP or similar certification strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in project management and construction software tools (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the full lifecycle of facility construction projects, from concept development, scoping, and budgeting through construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Direct and manage project teams, including internal staff and external partners, across multiple concurrent capital projects.
  • Lead project governance and reporting activities, including risk mitigation, financial tracking, change control, and performance metrics.
  • Ensure strict compliance with building codes, environmental regulations, corporate policies and standards.
  • Develop and manage project budgets and schedules; oversee procurement strategies and contractor negotiations.
  • Coordinate resolution of field conditions, design conflicts, and permitting challenges in real time.
  • Champion best-in-class project management practices, including use of technology platforms.
  • Facilitate transparent communication with senior leadership, providing regular updates on project performance, risks, and opportunities.
  • Support long-range planning initiatives, space planning strategies, and infrastructure modernization.
  • Foster a high-performance team culture with a focus on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
