Summary: The Carolina Value Business Practice Improvement Manager is responsible for overseeing daily activities associated with one or more medium to large-scale projects across UNC Health Care and UNC School of Medicine (SOM). Projects can range from implementing new structures, to designing new processes, to assessing and improving the efficiency of core business functions at a given entity. This individual develops the project execution strategy, supporting business case and various high-level stakeholder and project management plans required to achieve desired outcomes. This individual represents Carolina Value within the UNC Health Care and SOM community and ensures continual focus on achieving desired project outcomes. This individual will work within the Carolina Value Engagement Management structure and interface daily with stakeholders from all UNC Health Care and SOM entities and external consultants (as needed) to successfully define, plan, executive and deliver desired outcomes. This individual will work collaboratively with a variety of entities, administrative leaders/teams, groups or physicians, clinicians and executives to achieve desired outcomes while maintaining culture of high performance. This individual reports to a Carolina Value Senior Business Practice Improvement Manager. This individual will work within a team of project and Senior Managers to achieve Carolina Value's strategic objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Science or Health Care-related field
  • Five (5) years of management consulting, business process improvement design and implementation, project management or related business experience OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • If an Associate's degree: 9 years of experience.
  • If a High School diploma or GED: 13 years of experience.
  • Proven ability to lead complex project initiatives, including the ability to lead key elements of multifunction teams.
  • Knowledge of project and change management techniques and tools
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, including facilitation and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to excel and achieve results in a team-oriented, matrixed environment
  • Highly responsive to internal customers

Responsibilities

  • Project Strategy- Develops the project execution strategy, supporting business case and various high-level stakeholder and project management plans required to achieve desired outcomes. Works with Carolina Value Program Manager to ensure project execution strategy aligns with other concurrent initiatives.
  • Communication- Communicates with department leadership and key HCS and Entity Leaders to communicate project strategy, direction, and changes.
  • Facilitation- Frequently leads and facilitates project-related discussions between stakeholder groups and utilizes skills and experience to reach desired outcomes, which may include business process designs, data analysis and visualization, project charters and work plans, etc.
  • Projects- Responsible for delivering assigned projects on time, within budget, and meeting the strategic and business requirements. Oriented to maximize each project?s return on investment
  • Complex Issues- Analyzes and resolves complex issues. Leverages Carolina Value Engagement Management Office to ensure effective and uniform resolution of potential issues.
  • Internal Improvement- Independently recognizes areas for internal improvement and works with Carolina Value Senior Business Practice Improvement Manager to develop plans to address. Identifies ways to improve project team performance and determines how next implementation can be accomplished more effectively.
  • Change Management- Lead identification, facilitation and execution of change management initiatives required to achieve desired project outcomes.
