Airgas is Hiring for a Branch Manager in Topeka, KS We are looking for you! If you have strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, mentor and shape teams and prior industrial sales management, this just might be the job for you! A successful Branch Manager has overall responsibility for the critical issues of branch operations and profitability including: sales, sales growth, budgeting, gross margins, operating expenses, safety, customer service, inventory, equipment, building and vehicles, community relations, accounts receivable and resolution of personnel issues. Our Branch Managers sell industrial, medical, and specialty gases and equipment, welding products and equipment, tools and hardware and safety products. Branch Manager assists the outside sales team in all aspects including, but not limited to preparing quotes, maintaining all required literature, providing customer follow-up, and gathering sales leads. Branch Managers control cost and monitor fiscal performance compared to budget. They ensure the store is maintained in a clean and orderly manner and schedule staffing to ensure excellent customer service is available at all times with the purpose of achieving 100% customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent. College degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in sales and distribution of industrial gases and welding supplies or similar industrial products; at least two (2) years of experience in a managerial capacity.
  • Strong retail sales/customer service skills desired.
  • Knowledge of welding applications and equipment is a plus.
  • SAP experience a plus
  • Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and be detail-oriented with good organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds while promoting a team player attitude.
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, MSDS, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Must be flexible to adjust work schedules to meet operational requirements, may include “on call’ weekend work and overtime on an as-needed basis.

Responsibilities

  • Manages all branch personnel in accordance with company policies by hiring, training, motivating, planning and directing work, providing performance feedback, developing associates and resolving associate issues.
  • Responsible for timely and quality performance appraisals of assigned personnel.
  • Accurately completes and submits all sales-related paperwork (e.g., shippers, invoices, cylinder audits, month-end reports, cash reconciliations, deposits, etc.) in a timely manner.
  • Evaluates and monitors day-to-day activities of a branch to ensure cost effective operations and makes changes to ensure the same when required.
  • Coordinates sales promotion activities and responsible for maintaining and stocking merchandise and displaying it so that it is attractive to customers.
  • Maintains a clean and attractive store.
  • Coordinates activities with other branches and/or immediate branch personnel to resolve any customer, sales or operational problems or inquiries.
  • Issues are handled in a manner that enhances customer satisfaction.
  • Participates in the preparation of market and competitor information and annual sales analysis and forecast.
  • Works in accordance with all policies and procedures and rules as prescribed by State, Federal, and the Company.
  • Lead and promote safety; organize safety meetings and strictly enforce safety rules.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
