About The Position

This position assists in facilitating a patient-focused approach to member care by providing personal assistance, skills training, and other supportive services to help patients improve their behavioral health and wellness. The team helps patients find and secure personal, organizational, and community resources. The Manager will supervise a team including Recovery Coordinators/Case Managers, Peer Support Assistants, and Counselors. Key responsibilities include providing training, directing staff workflow, and maintaining overall accountability for day-to-day operations. This leader is responsible for the clinical competency of the staff, focusing on quality outcomes using evidence-based best practices, and promoting interdisciplinary patient care planning and patient education. The selected candidate will contribute to hiring, performance evaluations, metrics, and corrective action plans. The role is responsible for the daily performance of a team within a facility or business entity, typically in a department providing patient, support, or administrative services, and involves scheduling and supervising staff to ensure smooth workflow. Banner University Medical Group is a nonprofit faculty practice plan associated with the University of Arizona Colleges of Medicine, with over 1,100 clinicians providing primary and specialty care and mentorship to residents and fellows, valuing research, education, and excellent patient care.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in a behavioral or social service, or a closely related field (i.e., Social Work., Psychology, Counseling and Guidance, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Rehabilitation) as required for eligibility with the AZ Board of Behavioral Health licensure.
  • AZ Board of Behavioral Health (BHP) licensure at an independent level (for example: LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) or LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker)).
  • Current Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners Supervisor Registry required at time of hire.
  • In depth knowledge of AZ State, CMS and RBHA regulations related to Behavioral Health.
  • Significant knowledge of treatment issues of adult populations with psychiatric and substance abuse issues.
  • Seven years of experience in behavioral health treatment settings.
  • At least five years of progressive responsibility and staff management in behavioral health treatment settings.
  • Demonstrate effective communication, team building, human relations, and organization skills.
  • Familiar with commonly used office software and/or have the ability to learn new software applications if necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Provide training and direct the workflow for the staff while maintaining overall accountability for direction of day-to-day operations.
  • Responsible for the clinical competency of staff (Therapist, Recovery Coaches and Peer Support Specialists, etc.) and clinical performance with focus on quality of outcomes utilizing evidence based best practices.
  • Ensure optimal care/treatment to patient population.
  • Ensure total clinical conformance such as assessments, service plans, medication management, appropriate documentation, review etc.
  • Promote interdisciplinary patient care planning and patient education.
  • Provide input in hiring team members, participate in performance evaluations, metrics, and corrective action plans.
  • Responsible for the daily performance of a team for an assigned functional area within a facility or other business entity.
  • Schedule and supervise the work of assigned staff to ensure smooth workflow in the department.
  • Act as a knowledge resource to staff in matters of department processes, technical skills, equipment, supplies and/or regulatory requirements.
  • Select, train and manage the performance of staff.
  • Schedule staff in accordance with department needs, maintains labor expenses within budget guidelines.
  • Provide daily direction to staff.
  • Set goals for individuals and for the team.
  • Act as a mentor and coach and provide development and growth opportunities for staff.
  • Monitor supplies, equipment and labor resources and stay within budget.
  • Assist in developing goals, targets and action plans.
  • Identify, address and communicate opportunities to improve work processes and enable achievement of goals in quality, productivity and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain statistics and reports on activity in areas of responsibility when required.
  • Coordinate and participate in special projects as assigned.
  • Make decisions guided by policies and procedures.
  • Interact primarily with direct reports, supervisor, internal customers, and patients.
