About The Position

The Auto Sales Research Manager ensures an effective Auto Sales incentives strategy through research and analysis of industry sales trends. This role involves conducting thorough research on automotive competitors' national, regional, in-market, and state-level sales volumes and incentive campaigns. The position requires a strategic thinker to provide comprehensive examination of the competitive landscape and recommend actions to American Honda's executive leadership. The Research manager will contribute to developing new internal and external incentive platforms/tools, collaborating with both AHM and Japan staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Finance, or Business Administration or Related Field Experience required.
  • A degree in Statistics, Economics, Finance, or Business Administration a plus.
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience in the automotive industry.
  • Experience leading a team preferred.
  • Knowledge of vehicle incentive programs including a thorough understanding of leasing and financing options.
  • Working knowledge of Residual Value setting process and influencers.
  • Experience with financial cost estimate and budget reconciliation.
  • Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Proficient in Power BI, Excel, Word and PowerPoint required and knowledge of AI.
  • Strong finance, accounting, budget and forecasting preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills with ability to communicate in a cross-functional environment (sales operations, marketing, zones/field, audits and accounting).
  • General knowledge of automotive incentive functions and the automotive industry is required.
  • Experience in SIMPL (Sales Incentive Manager Planner), ECMS/Offer Management Web Publisher, JIRA Board, Agile Training desired.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research regarding sales trends to quickly identify competitive market changes for the sales strategy, sales and marketing team to quickly adapt to efficiently maximize sales through capitalizing on opportunities and swift reaction to mitigate threats.
  • Conduct comprehensive national, regional, and state-level market incentive studies utilizing industry data, vendor analysis/reporting, competitor in-market incentives, and available internal data.
  • Examine automotive competitors' incentive tactics, data/statistics and collaborative discussions with AHM executive leadership, national management and regional field teams to determine targeted strategies and countermeasures.
  • Generate and provide American Honda executive leadership team with comprehensive analysis of automotive competitors' in-market/state-level incentive actions & adjustments, reviewing sales volume targets and market situations across Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles and Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) segments.
  • Deliver effective & efficient recommendations regarding incentive cycle plans, monthly implementation and mid-cycle countermeasures and potential pivots.
  • Produce PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) cycles as it relates to identified KPI's / Targets.
  • Provide an elevated level of strategic thinking with the expectation of encompassing persuasion with business partners and/or executive leadership team on Auto Sales Fiscal Plans & organization strategy.
  • Develop innovative solutions that address and counter both ICE and BEV market competitor incentive landscape.
  • Collaborate with Honda & Acura executive leadership, Global Leadership, Marketing senior management and Incentives teams to manage the creation/launch of ICE & BEV regional incentive programs.
  • Ensure clear communications within the team and with other departments such as Marketing, S&PP, Logistics, NBEX, etc.
  • Produce in-depth regional and state-level incentive proposals and countermeasures for the American Honda executive leadership team based upon market competitors' campaigns, volume targets and within budget.
  • Emphasize efficient spending to stay within budget.
