About The Position

What you'll do... Position: Manager, Automation Engineering Job Location: 811 Excellence Dr. Bentonville, AR 72716 Duties: Data and Digital Literacy: Leverages data analysis tools to explore moderately complex data, develops and tests hypotheses, uses data to influence strategic work, and builds and presents insights. Identifies, implements, and drives technology change within scope of work. Uses visualization tools to represent data and construct coherent stories to influence decisions. Mechatronics: Updates existing CAD drawings based on requirements. Describes common drafting conventions, tools, procedures, and processes. Identifies basic functions and features of a design and visualization system. Navigates and troubleshoots control systems. Identifies electrical design concepts and techniques used in a supply chain. Cites examples of usage or application of electrical design in automating supply chain processes. Demonstrates knowledge of wiring schematics, ensuring they meet requirements and are compliant. Describes common mechanical components of Distribution Center and Fulfillment Center equipment. Names basic tools or technologies used in mechanical engineering. Automation System Design: Identifies the areas for usage of automation machineries. Assesses tasks for automation potential. Obtains information about alternative automation solutions. Assists with analyzing space and cost requirements associated with machinery usage. Identifies issues and provides resolutions to problems related to automation machineries. Process Flow Design: Interprets information to quantify the anticipated outcome of supply chain decisions. Describes the typical tasks associated with using and managing suppliers. Understands issues and considerations for inbound and outbound logistics. Describes basic logistical processes and subprocesses. Uses a variety of business process design tools and techniques. Examines, interprets, and explains workflow materials and documentation. Analyzes a process and associated business logic and offers recommendations based on analysis. Carries out business process design tasks with some supervision and coaching. Documents common obstacles and barriers for effective implementation. Participates in the development of technology interfaces and bridges. Works with existing interfaces and integration and migration plans within assigned area. Prepares integration tests. Measures and compares results with established test criteria. Continuous Improvement: Seeks help to implement ideas for process improvement for the group. Identifies the main processes for which the group is responsible. Demonstrates the ability to describe the interrelationships among elements of a system or process. Applies the concept of continuous improvement to identify opportunities for greater efficiency. Understands and explains principles of continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen. Engineering Economics: Describes the concepts behind engineering economics and the implications of financial data. Understands the drivers of cost. Identifies major types of financial data utilized by the organization. Explains how financial data is accessed and the types of information used in engineering. Understands how to develop a business case. Advanced Analytics: Explains the key concepts and features of data analysis methods. Lists the major sources (for example, tools, dashboards, industry sources etc.) for collecting data. Explores, compiles, and manipulates data using various tools. Analyzes data and computes descriptive statistics that identify trends, outliers, and correlations. Position may work at various unanticipated Walmart locations throughout the U.S. Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in engineering or related field and 2 years of experience in engineering, supply chain, or related experience; OR 4 years of experience in engineering, supply chain, or related experience. Skills Required: Must have experience with: Facility Design, Warehousing & Material Handling Systems: Develop plans using AutoCAD or similar tools, Automation Assembly & electrical equipment, PLCs, VFDs, IDFs, HMI interfaces; Logistics Engineering, Supply Chain Planning & Engineering: Automation system design & integration; Lean Business Cases: Project charters, timelines, cost justifications, make-or-buy decisions, data-driven decision making, stakeholder management, strategic planning, resource allocation; Standard Operating Procedures (SOP): Process Flow Charts, current and desired state mapping, cost analysis using engineering economics; Lean Tools: Value Stream Mapping (VSM), continuous improvement, Kaizen, root cause analysis, 5S, Poka Yoke, Heijunka, process standardization, visual management, Gemba, SOP; Six Sigma: DMAIC tools, PDCA cycle, process optimization, quality-driven management (QDM), ABLE, NPI, cost reduction; Data Visualization & Analysis: Dashboards, statistical data analysis, historical data analysis, demand and supply analysis, time series forecasts, process optimization tools; Staffing & Resource Planning: Equipment planning, operational functions, departmental strategy, material flow optimization using simulation models; Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP): SAP, R, Python, SQL, DAX coding in PowerBI. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills. Salary Range: $90,000 - $180,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.
