About The Position

The Manager – Asset Protection & Investigations serves as the primary corporate resource responsible for protecting Moon Valley Nurseries’ physical assets, inventory, and facilities. This individual contributor role supports approximately 50 nurseries as well as our farms, and tree care services through proactive asset protection strategies, theft and loss investigations, camera and alarm management, and facility security oversight. Working closely with Operations, HR, IT, Facilities, and Finance, this role ensures our security programs, systems, and responses align with company standards and local regulations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, investigative by nature, and comfortable working independently while partnering across departments and locations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in asset protection, loss prevention, or security operations (multi-site experience required).
  • Demonstrated experience conducting theft or loss investigations, interviewing, and preparing professional reports.
  • Proven ability to manage CCTV, alarm, and access-control systems across multiple locations.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a fast-paced, geographically dispersed organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and able to learn security monitoring and case management platforms.
  • Willingness to travel to nursery and farm locations as needed (~25% or more based on need).
  • Availability for after-hours or weekend response to incidents or alarms.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Business, or related field — or equivalent work experience.
  • Subject to MVR and criminal background check (In accordance with applicable fair chance laws, rules, and regulations)

Nice To Haves

  • Background in retail, agricultural, or service related environments.
  • Certification in security or investigations (e.g., CPP, PSP, WZ) preferred.
  • Experience working with law enforcement or external investigators.
  • Knowledge of facility access systems, physical security design, and vendor management.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the company’s central contact for asset protection across all nurseries, farms, and corporate facilities.
  • Manage and monitor alarm systems, CCTV/video surveillance, and access controls to ensure full functionality and appropriate coverage.
  • Maintain and oversee key control processes for the corporate office and field sites, including issuance, logs, and/or audits.
  • Conduct regular facility security audits to assess risks, identify vulnerabilities, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Review daily/weekly camera footage and alarm reports to proactively identify potential issues or suspicious activity.
  • Lead and document investigations involving theft, loss, vandalism, or policy violations at any location.
  • Collaborate with Operations, HR, and law enforcement as necessary to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and prepare reports.
  • Track incident trends to identify root causes and develop prevention programs or process improvements.
  • Manage the intake, investigation, and resolution of all reported security incidents or suspicious activity.
  • Maintain detailed and confidential case files and ensure follow-through on corrective actions.
  • Responsible for leading the necessary sales and customer audits to ensure compliance within all processes.
  • Develop contingency planning, training and preparation for emergent situations (e.g., active shooter, natural disasters).
  • Partner with leadership to develop and refine company-wide asset protection policies and procedures.
  • Support the rollout of security technologies and tools — including new cameras, access systems, and alarm upgrades.
  • Train and build awareness among nursery and farm teams on loss prevention, security procedures, and incident reporting.
  • Work cross-functionally with HR, IT, Facilities, and Operations to ensure asset protection is integrated into daily operations.
  • Prepare periodic reports and dashboards summarizing incident data, system performance, and audit outcomes for senior leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, local regulations, and vendor security standards.
  • Evaluate vendor performance for alarm and camera services and recommend contract improvements where needed.
  • Stay informed on security best practices and emerging technologies relevant to agricultural, retail, and corporate environments.
