Qualifications POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for the full lifecycle management of Goodwill Business Services’ major equipment, ensuring assets are safe, reliable, compliant, and cost effective throughout their useful life. The Asset Manager will supervise a team of five mechanics, oversee maintenance processes and standards, and ensure equipment is in optimal working condition to support operational performance. Supports the organization in its mission to help change lives through the power of work.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for a security clearance.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED); technical or vocational training preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in maintenance, asset management, reliability, or equipment operations.
  • 2+ years of experience supervising mechanics, technicians, or maintenance personnel.
  • Experience with preventive and corrective maintenance on industrial, commercial, or service related equipment.
  • Skilled in interpreting equipment manuals, diagrams, service instructions, and technical data.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS systems for work order management and asset tracking.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Skilled in use of shop equipment, diagnostic tools, and standard mechanical tools.
  • Ability to analyze equipment issues, evaluate alternative solutions, and implement corrective and preventive processes.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements and safe work practices.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.
  • For positions requiring driving, must maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage, and be able to travel as needed if personal vehicle is used for company business.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee lifecycle management of major equipment, including acquisition, commissioning, preventive maintenance, corrective repair, refurbishment, and end of life replacement.
  • Supervise mechanics, assign work, monitor performance, ensure standard work practices, and maintain adherence to maintenance procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules and ensure compliance to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Review and approve diagnostics, repairs, and service actions performed by mechanics, provide technical guidance as needed.
  • Maintain accurate asset records, including equipment master data, maintenance history, warranties, inspections, and compliance documentation.
  • Manage the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), including work orders, labor tracking, asset information, and reporting.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of equipment condition, mechanic shop areas, maintenance processes, and safety compliance.
  • Forecast and manage maintenance - related budgets, including parts, labor, supplies, and contracted services.
  • Requisition parts and supplies, monitor inventory levels, and ensure availability of critical components.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Safety, and Finance to ensure equipment needs, compliance standards, and reporting requirements are met.
  • Lead or participate in root cause analysis for major equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Train mechanics and equipment operators on proper use, daily checks, and basic maintenance practices.
  • Maintain an organized and safe mechanic shop and storage areas.
  • Communicate regularly with management regarding equipment condition, risks, downtime events, resource needs, and work progress.
  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting employees, addressing concerns, and maintaining positive, professional communication.
