A reasonable estimate of the current range is: Grade: Management_Executive 608 Pay Range: $101,000.00 - $181,800.00 Job Description Provides leadership for the design, evaluation, and continuous improvement of assessments to ensure validity, reliability, fairness, and alignment with institutional goals. This role leads a team of assessment strategists and psychometricians, driving the development and implementation of innovative assessment strategies that support student success and academic program integrity. This position partners with academic and institutional leaders to establish key performance metrics, ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards, and provide actionable insights from assessment and psychometric data. The role requires balancing strategic vision with operational excellence to deliver high-quality, scalable, and data-driven assessment solutions. Location: This position will be located in our Salt Lake City, Utah office and would require you to work a hybrid schedule in the office 4 days a week with one day remote.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing technical and strategic teams in assessment and psychometrics.
  • Strong expertise in assessment strategy, validity frameworks, and psychometric methods (IRT, CTT, equating, scaling, DIF analysis, etc.).
  • Ability to manage projects and teams in a complex, matrixed organization with competing priorities.
  • Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills, with the ability to translate complex psychometric findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present technical content to diverse audiences including leadership, faculty, and external partners.
  • Experience applying assessment strategies in competency-based, online, or higher education environments.
  • Ability to coach and develop team members while fostering innovation and collaboration.
  • Sound judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards, accessibility requirements, and assessment best practices in higher education.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychometrics, Educational Measurement, Educational Psychology, Assessment, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience in assessment development, psychometrics, or educational measurement, including at least two years in a supervisory or team leadership role.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and supervises a team of assessment strategists and psychometricians, including hiring, training, developing, coaching, mentoring, and managing performance.
  • Establishes the vision, strategy, and goals for assessment quality, innovation, and psychometric rigor across academic programs.
  • Ensures all assessments are valid, reliable, fair, and aligned with competency frameworks, accreditation standards, and institutional goals.
  • Oversees the application of psychometric methods, including test design, calibration, equating, scaling, and statistical analysis of assessment data.
  • Partners with academic and institutional leaders to define program-level and institution-wide success metrics for assessment.
  • Ensures assessment strategies, instruments, and policies comply with accreditation, regulatory, and professional standards.
  • Collaborates with curriculum, product, and faculty teams to align assessment strategies with program learning outcomes.
  • Uses assessment data and psychometric evidence to identify trends, evaluate program effectiveness, and recommend improvements.
  • Provides reports, presentations, and recommendations to leadership based on analysis of assessment performance, validity studies, and quality audits.
  • Monitors project timelines, resources, and budgets to ensure deliverables are completed on time and within scope.
  • Fosters a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging research, AI, and emerging technologies to advance assessment practices.
